Hacking Is it worth it to get 3ds flashcard

Hi,
I have a new 3ds XL, i was considering buying the sky3ds. But it is very expensive!
Is it even worth it?
Can I just get an average R4 card, and play 2ds on it?

No you can't play 2DS games on R4. They're the same rom files as 3DS. You either need Sky3DS, Gateway, or install CFW.

What is your system version?
If it's lower than 11.0, then it's not worth it in any possible way.
Even if you are on 11.0 it is always cheaper to either borrow a 3ds and buy a dsiware exploit game or just hardmod and downgrade.

Your best option is as @Davidosky99 said: borrow a 3ds on an exploitable firmware version and use the dsiware exploit to downgrade your 3ds, or send it to gamesquest1 on this site to have it hard modded and downgraded. Then install CFW (guides are avaiLble on this site) and install games in CIA Format.

Don't buy a sky3ds.
Really , it's not worth it, it's expensive, hard to use(tricky) and can get you banned online

And with a downgraded 3ds you can make an emunand on your SD(copy of your system located on SD), install cfw and with that boot to the emunand with hacks that allow you to install pirated games(.CIA) using an app called FBI

Yes it is simple and you cant damage if you follow all the steps in the guide correctly.
I have done this to over 30 3ds systems and finished downgrading a 11.0 in my area recently and it went well and smooth.
Don't worry. Really.
Just don't go the flashcard way

I may sound a dick, but the best advice youll get is: get into the scene, research and then ask what isnt clear.

I have done research. But there isnt much information. What ever I researched, said the only option was to use sky3ds. So it is a good thing I did ask!

Personally, I think that Sky3DS and Gateway cards are a waste of money. I would suggesting either getting a hardmod and following Plailect's guide or using the DSiWare downgrade.

I don't understand what you mean by 2ds games though. Do you want to play games such as Pokemon Soul Silver, which were released for the old consoles like the Ds, and Dsi? Or do you want to play newer games like Pokemon Y which were released for the 3ds? You can buy a $10 flashcart and play all of the old Ds games you want on it.

READ IT MORE THAN ONES UNTIL YOU UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING!!! (Another advice: print it out and have a hardcopy during the process!)

After all the reading you can decide what you want to do.
Choose wisely ..... the window for an easy way for a CFW will close or be much harder if you wait to long
