Hacking Discussion Is it safe to just label CFW as console ban suicide?

I've seen in a lot of threads, that getting CFW will risk a high chance of ban either online, console or account, iirc.
Since there are no guaranteed work around for bans yet, is it safe to just say that getting CFW for online or even offline use is pretty much putting your console through a game of Russian Roulette?
I myself am getting secondary switch for sneaky deeds, but for the sake of avoiding anymore "Will installing CFW get me banned" threads or questions, might I suggest a dedicated thread to warning users of the risk they're taking by installing Backups and such onto their Switch's?

i would really love to buy a banned console so that i can use my main switch without any mods. But i cant find any cheap ones they are selling for 180$ upwards, so i guess its not that problematic to sell them sadly haha

I’ve just gone with the “I’ll get banned from online but I’ve never done anything online with my Switch”

I stuck my switch to airplane mode before doing anything with it (just in case it helps) and the only thing I’ve missed is being able to tweet screenshot in game.

My hope is a third party twitter thing is made for CFW in the future and I’m set!

Been playing online with SX OS on a day to day basis for about a month now.
To only use legitimate Backups seems to be the key.

Until a CFW has an Emunand theirs a high chance your getting banned at some point it seems.

Once a CFW does have an Emunand you can keep that Emunand totally offline and use it for all your hacks, homebrew and messing about. Then when you want to go online do so with your totally clean Sysnand. Long term that is probably going to be the only safe way to do things besides having two consoles.

No. You can play xci dumps with a valid cert just fine without getting banned as long as you use a good cert and don't go online while doing it. If you install a NSP you will get banned 100%.


We got some vocal anti-TX people that like to spread fud. There is a mostly safe way to play backups without getting banned and chances are slim that Nintendo will probably block it. That is using XCI loader. Which currently means paying TX for it.

Except there have been people who got banned when playing .XCI games and using SXOS. Meaning that Nintendo CAN detect it. The only 100% safe way is to NEVER GO ONLINE. Well, considering there is only a few reports of people claiming to have done nothing but plug xci games and still got banned, you have to take what they say with a grain of salt. When most the people aren't getting banned playing xci's then you know something is right there.

Not to mention there is a large number of people posting that they play xci's only and still haven't gotten banned, but I guess that is easy to gloss over when you are just spreading propaganda to back your choices.

Personally I'm getting tired of people like you who keep lying to try to prove their point.
