Since this is a flash card meant for the DSi with backwards compatibility, I expected that you could also play GBA roms without the need for a slot-2 expasion pack. But whenever I try to run a GBA rom I get the message that I need a slot-2 card. Is there a way to make it work without such a thing?

Why would you expect that? The DSi has mostly the same innards as a normal DS, except for the Slot 2 and GBA parts removed. Therefore, it cannot run GBA games unless you have an iPlayer or a SCDS2, since they have a processor in them which can emulate the console.

Please look something up before creating a thread for it.
Sorry, but no slot1 card other than 3 of them can play GBA games.
And the others to play GBA games need to be used on a DS or DSlite, not a DSi or DSi XL since they lack a slot2
