A guy on youtube said it's not possible

Solution
There is a Chip called Cobra ODE which allows you to read backups of your PS3 games by disc swapping, according to the Cobra Optical Drive Emulator site (the full name of the acronym) "Compatible with 25xx, 3xxx and 4xxx series consoles to 4.80 OFW. " so if you have an older model, all you need to do is to update the FW of your ODE and that's it so yeah, it currently works with any model, firmware, etc. and such on the system.

The conventional way of hacking a PS3 would be by downgrading and installing a CFW, due to the lack of updates from the PS3 scene or lack of anyone interested after the Geohot case there has been no updates or ways (currently) to use a CFW above the specific OFW on the PS3, regardless, there are several sellers...

Another thing to mention is that you can also run homebrew with the Cobra ODE, but only some specific homebrew authorized or that itself "Homebrew apps which don't use CFW-specific syscalls should be supported" according to the page, so yeah, that's about the full pack of what the ODE can offer currently.
