ROM Hack Is it possible to get banned online from custom save?

Hello. I've been told that you can't get banned using cia's online because they use your internal header. However I was wondering if you use a custom save from someone else, is there a chance you'll get banned?

Well someone else's backup and for a game maybe like pokemon. Kappa

Basically someone backs up there game in savedatafiler then I download it and inject into mine on pokemon.

You would have to change the trainer ID to something else but going online to battle is very dangerous since the same TID being online from two different 3DS's would be impossible.

Just make a new save its not worth the risk, why do you want their save BTW?

Triple edit changing your TID and SID "might" make it safe but it's not worth the risk IMO.

Also I went online for like 30 seconds. Hopefully I don't get banned I turned it off. I thought cia's were unbanable :/.

Trainer ID is not something Nintendo keeps track of. It exists only to facilitate trades so the game knows the Pokemon is from another game and treats it as such.

As long as you create a new save on the game you took the save from sure but that seems a little counter productive no? It would be so much easier to just make a new save.

People don't normally take two of the same save online it makes no sense to do so it's like having two private headers play online at the same time.

Once Powersaves was released wouldn't there have been a flood of reports of folks with cloned saves being banned then?

PKHeX editing your own save is fine as long as you don't make an impossible pokemon with incorrect info and battle online with it.

Oh well I mean for using a save from my 2ds to N3ds xl. Also could there be a tool where I could say change the info of my 2ds on that save and replace it with my n3ds xl info? And why would that be risky?

Look pokemon is a special little snowball with a bunch of exceptions the biggest being every game having a game sync ID to get online if you want your save just back it up and import it to a new CIA or cart after deleting the secure value. You're making this super complex.

Alright I just got a n3ds xl. I know how to transfer the save between the two. However I wanted to know if it is safe if I do so. If not how do I change what I need to change to make it safe. I know how to use pkhex and savedatafiler.

Of course transferring the save is safe just delete it from the source once your done. All these replies for something simple .
