should i try to sell it as a jailbreak capable ps3 or just upgrade to current?
jailbreak capable of course!
Jailbreak capable, if the buyer doesnt intend to use it for that purpose they can easily upgrade the ps3 themself, why not give them the option instead
thanks any idea if its worth more? or just easier to sell?
it's a 250GB slim hasn't been touched in well over a year.
It's not worth any more because it's hackable. That would be stupid.
Its worth more without a doubt just not a lot. You can sell it with par with a new console i'd say so around 300$ for a 250gb system. If it would not be hackable you'd have trouble selling it for 200...
Stupid in your eyes maybe but not for most people. I'm not touching my PS3 until I can jailbreak it (though I'm stilll buying games. just bought Infamous, Dark Souls and FFXIII)
i would think its worth more. i wouldn't sell mine for less than $500 and that's without anything, just the machine, controller and 250gb internal HDD (probably would leave the stuff on there). The external 1tb is mine, unless the price is right.
That's my opinion and what its worth to me. I basically would be figuring if this is sold, I will never be getting another PS3 again unless some new hack comes along. So it's worth more to me. I would price it at $600. Double the price for insane amount of access to games, shit even if you didn't want to download games, you could subscribe to gamefly and rip the games you get. sure its piracy, but who's gonna know?
it should be worth more
the only problem would be finding someone to sell it who understands why is it worth more and is willing to pay
What world are you living in?
People who want to buy a console for pirating games generally want it to be a low price..
Instead of having it be Jailbreak Compatible why don't you Jailbreak it?
It's not worth more in the monetary sense. It's the same hardware.
but it's on a different firmware which enables backup loading, emulators, possibly other os, etc
But he's asking about the value of the software.
All this doesn't matter - from a technical stand-point it's just another PS3 Slim. He can place a higher price on it and mention it as some people value lower firmwares but at the end of the day, it's the exact same console as any other Slim.
But as Dep said, it's about the software.
Do you expect games to be the price of buying an empty blu-ray?
Never said it doesn't have advantages. I'm just trying to be objective here - not every buyer will be interested in hack-ability.
But buyers that are specifically looking for it to be hackable will be, which is why he wants to charge more.
Not all models and people want simplicity.
Iirc PS3's can be downgraded.
Nothing a simple NAND reprogrammer like the E3 flasher can't do.
Ok then, so my DS Lite should be worth tons more because I can use a flashcard on it, my Wii is worth more because it's softmodded, my PS2 is worth more because of FMB, my GBA is worth more because of my flashcard, my 360 is worth more because it could be flashed.
