for me, i checked the faq that kivan put up and when i try to connect it says "looking up your hostname" then, "checking ident", then "couldnt look up your hostname", then "no ident response.... whats wrong?

That's EFNet problem. Just try connecting again another time or if you can, switch IP and try again.
