I keep hearing thinks that sound like the iPlayer is fail. Simple question to all iPlayer users: How effective is the unit; does drag and drop file use work properly, and does it properly support all the filetypes stated on it's site? Also, does it run progressive Jpegs?

Nope it's not fail.
Drag and drop works.
Yes it supports the formats (I can't confirm for .rmvb files though, since I never used them)
Doesn't support jpegs. I use moonshell for that.

I wouldn't recommend iPlayer since others and I have had too many problems. If too many people are having problems, you shouldn't even bother. Even if some still get decent-working ones. Ask yourself, "Is it worth shelling out $40 for something with a high chance of failing and giving me grief?"

Aside from that, .avi, GBA and NES work on it from what I've tried. Mine has just stopped working all around, though.

I bought the iPlayer when that was the only method available to play GBA on a DSi.

That's OK, it does that.

But now there's the SC2, and I'd recommend that rather than the iPlayer.

Did they finally realease the video plug-in?

Cause if they did, I might have to buy that SC2 after all.

That's my main issue; I couldn't give less of a damn about the other stuff; I just want it as a media player...

If the SuperCard can do it, then I'll buy that, but until then, I need a non-conversion required media player for DS...

iPlayer works well for that. My GBA emulator stopped functioning a while back, but the D&D media player works like a charm still.

This actually brings up another question; If the GBA emmy was ported, why can't the media player be ported?

The good thing about the iPlayer is that it has much better GBA emulation. The SCDS2 still has about 10-20% of gba games that have minor/major glitches

AFAIK the gba emulator was ported because the guy that made it did it.

You can't port without the source, and I don't know if any of us outside the team knows who did the media player, but it's likely they don't have the source either.

I love my iPlayer but I love my SC2 more. But to answer OP's ? yes it does do what it says it will do and I have had ZERO issues with it.

If you use crappy micro sd memory cards fakes or brand X you can and probably will damage Flash Cards, this happened to me but I was able to turn it off before it damaged my Flash Cards it was a fake Kingston I always try to buy a known brand of memory card but you still can get caught out I now test all memory cards on my laptop through a reader I take carful look at how hot it is getting and how fast it is getting hot I do a complete test read and Write plus format
I think this is the biggest killer of Flash Cards

I bought my iPlayer flash card from 4CoolDay http://www.4coolday.com/

(FREE SHIPPING) and it arrived promptly and the best part it was cheap, I have now tested it with a GBA Ghost Rider and compared it with DSTWO Card and the iPlayer is faster and better, the intro is distorted on the game and it gets past this point in half the time and there does not have the delay with the buttons the people who said it was a better card than the DSTWO was definitely right and the others who said it was the same are WRONG
I LOVE IT
PS:-The AVI movie player is very good considering the DSi XL screen resolution

If only it could play SNES Games
