ios 4.2 is out. For the iPod, iPhone, and iPad.

Offers some nice new features:
iPad is now on the same fw as iPod and iPhone
Airprint, print stuff from you iDevice
Airplay, watch videos.. and stuff from your iDevice -> apple tv
Find my iDevice is now free.
Some more smaller stuffz.
Yeah, go, and update your iDevice.

Yes, this is my first news article. And if I had to quote something or whatever. I don't care since I told you what this update is.

too bad iPod Touch 2G's were cut off of the AirPrint for no reason at all.........

this is Apple's Plot to Kill everything Below iPhone 3G.

make all the new apps for 4G devices only and leave the critical and long awaited updates out for older users..*cough*springboardwallpapers*

The 2G is over two years old.

Many companies don't provide any updates that far into the product's life cycle.

Apple is eventually plotting to kill all iDevices below iPhone 3G (anything above 3Gs will be spared)

this is why all the good apps are not working on anything below iPhone 3G (including 2G)

and GET THIS.

THIS poster that showed AirPrint COULD work on the 2G.
but look at the fucking new one AFTER the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G was released.

notice the 2G is MISSING.

there was NO reason why they had to do that except shaft older users who can't afford a new one who are holding on to their older device

its no coincidence with this and that all the new apps leaving are out the older iDevices.

Apple is pretty much purposely forcing you to upgrade or be left behind.

Strangely, however, the differences between all Apple iDevices are minimal, so they can perfectly well release the update they made for every iDevice rather than only the latest ones.

Cash whores.

Yeah, definitely, but Apple doesn't want you to (even though it was 'legalised' IIRC).

LOL so many posts on facebook said "well it seems that jailbreaking is legal now...but..when did we last care??"

this is MY thoughts exactly.

Blackra1n was my friend BEFORE this happened

on TOPIC -

let's hope some smartass jailbreak hacker will exploit the system and give us older 2G and iPhone 3G users what's rightly ours...namely..AirPrint support.

they did it with Apple leaving out the two best (well...one best) options out in iOS 4.0 for older users EX : Springboard wallpapers and Multitasking*..uhm... *sidesteps slowly away and goes toward multif0w*

A business? Wanting to sell products?

The fiends!

You're incorrect in your assumption that its as simple as making it compatible. The 2G/3G, 3GS, and iPhone 4 all differ in the varying chipsets that comprise the device, which require different optimizations and drivers with every release. This translates to increased development time and costs, which Apple decided (as most manufacturer's in this field do) wasn't worth it and would provide an additional detriment to selling new units.

And once again, Apple is far better in this regard than most handset manufacturers. Look at the Motorola CLIQ for example. It's scarcely a year old, released with an outdated version of android, and took a year to get a 9 month old update. Be lucky the device got updates for as long as it did.

That image is fake.
Notice that IT say devices that support multitasking?
iPod touch 2g doesnt.
And people saying that Apple are killing older devices, well if you reenable multitasking and wallpapers you battery will go down in two seconds flat.

If it's not fake, then it must of been a mistake.
Apple wouldn't have added support as with the nest iOS update, support will drop (a.k.a no iOS 5 for iPT2g owners)
There phasing it out.
That image contradicts itself.
BTW, I'm not saying that the ipt2g can't support airprint, just that apple won't give it to them officially.

And how does this update hold out for iphone 3G users?
Since Apple pretty much screwed us over now and then with the 4.x OS. lol
But yeh, is there any point for 3G users?

@Xdqwerty, hm, I'm not familiar with that software, however, a lot of distributions offer a live test environment that they themselves build. No changes will be permanent though so any software you install on it is temporary, and would need to be reinstalled next time you boot the live image. https://www.debian.org/CD/live/

no, finding all the drivers for the 12th generation of Intel or running KEIL on Linux is a special genre of porn, there is little of that even on the black Internet.
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
Alternatively, if you have two flash drives, you could boot an installer on one flash drive, and install it onto the second flash drive. Then you can make permanent changes to the Linux install, but still remove the flash drive to "undo" any changes to the PC

@Xdqwerty, true, I suppose that is a different concern. Depends on if you think you could explain your way out of it (lie), explain that it doesn't change anything on the computer and is only a program that runs from the USB drive (sort of lie). Not that lying is a good idea lol. Also, depends on if you think others would notice it is different. Using KDE Plasma desktop environment (default in Debian) looks not too different from WIndows 10. The file explorer looks very different, but if you're just using other programs like web browsers, it looks similar
