Oh yeah, that's normal. That client can't do that. I will remove the button in the next release. It's a client that is made with the sole purpose to play on Dreamcast servers.

Noted! On another topic I think the mod loader version really should supplant the regular "main" ioquake 3 version, especially since you can already just launch regular quake 3 from the mod loader version anyways. Unless there's more differences that necessitate it being a seperate branch. You know just to consolidate things a bit more you know?

Also guys if you use the commands "\r_stencilbits 8" and "\cg_shadows 3" you can enable stencil shadows which actually look quite nice in game and have zero performance downsides! Especially useful if you have decals disabled as I do.

For the next update, I'd invite all the users who had the message power pc: not enough memory error when loading maps to reach me via DM. I'll give you a debug build that I want you to boot and bring me back the debug log.

When sending the log back, you must specificy:
Wii model (PAL or NTSC)
Boot mode (HBC directly through Priiloader, Wii Home Menu)
If the files were in USB or SD card
If you had a HDD plugged in.

Also be sure to run the latest build with a clean q3config file.

New Update

Bugfixes

  • Bindings will now persist across controller/power cycles
  • Fixed an issue where unplugging the nunchuck while doing a movement would lock the player's movement to that direction
  • Improved memory management (USB/HDD users shouldn't run out of memory anymore)
  • Slightly improved CLASSIC menu UI (still TODO, though)
  • Other minor bugfixes

Certain large levels like Q3DM11 won't load anymore, says it's out of memory

Did you delete the Q3config file? It touched some stuff there

Good catch, I forgot to do that! Seems to be okay now.

EDIT: It does seem to still run out of memory quicker though - I triggered OoM by loading large levels with a lot of bots where previously it would load fine on the last build. Also custom levels and mods are a lot more hit and miss for loading without running into a OoM error.

EDIT 2: The first level in OpenArena runs out of memory in this new build where it always loads on the last build.

Gotta investigate. At this point I'm fighting back and forth to try and get things to not run OOM for everyone lol

I can confirm the issues with this latest version 1.3. I have Quake 3 and Open Arena on an external SSD to improve load times, and with previous versions I didn't have any problems with any maps, but with this latest version, it doesn't even load many of them. Clean install.

At this point I either give up JIT and go with Interpreter (which will give enough memory back to do all the stuff) at the cost of performance or trim further. This is just going back and forth trying to optimize as much as I can
