the IP logging doesn't really mean too much. what if i buy mario 3 on my wii and then delete it. then i take my wii to granny's house and she wants to play mario. i can download mario 3 again there and her IP doesn't match the one i originally bought the game with.

so if ninety logs my IP when i use this to DL a wiiware from them, that IP alone doesn't let them know dick about if there is a wii at that house which has been used to buy that game. they will need to tie it to the MAC for the actual wii.

I don't see why pirating vc/wiiware is 'bad' and using emulators and roms is not. Unless, of course, people dump their own cartridges to play on those emulators. (Which I doubt)

But wait... Can't the same be said about the usb loaders?

Back on topic: cwstjdenobs, I think you shouldn't drop this project, and I really hope to see this app out of the oven

in my modest point of view, the difference that stands between the wad installation and the download directly from the N server with fake tickets is evident, and depending on the country you live the law applies differently.

in the first case you are pirating software, you are violating a copyright law.
in the second one you are pirating a service, wich is a crime perpetrated against an information technology system.

to make a simple compare, it's like
1) downloading an mp3 copyrighted album from a torrent site
2) cracking the iTunes store to download from their server.

even if there is a really small difference, the iTunes store is a web application that applies restrictions on content access, the NUS server is just a place where files are stored, and there's no restriction in accessing them, the only restriction there is applied by a cryptographic algorithm that's supposed to prevent the abuse of non legally owned files.

There aren't any Wiiware games worth stealing anyway.

And mac addresses don't survive through routers do they? I thought MACs where only handled by the physical layer, not TCP/IP.

I think it's great cwstjdenobs, well done.

Thinking about it though, I would want you to only give this app to scene release groups themselves. This would keep the attention lower and N might not be so quick to try to block it if only a handful of people were doing it, and they them selves then release the wads.

Either way great stuff on figuring it all out and getting a working POC of it

Crap! Someone finally figured out that this is just too easy. I knew that this is possible for quite a long time now, but i didn't work on it, because i love that server! I hope this will not give nintendo the reason to shut down or more likely secure the update server.

And you know that a NUS Downloader which creates fake tickets would be an easier way to go?

That's what I said earlier make a NUSD-mod to create wad's instead of installing straight to nand

Agreed. Please, cwstjdenobs, don't make pirating easier as it is already. Let the Noobs continue on searching their .wads, and don't release it. Keep it for a personal use, but don't give it to anyone, not to sceners and not for the Public. I like how the Server is right now, and if Nintendo starts protecting, this will make the things only harder...

Remember, if the servers go down, NUS on the PC becomes useless and it's plausible that older IOS vanish forever.

And all patchmii apps like dop-IOS MOD etc. become useless, as does any other app that downloads stuff from NUS e.g. cIOS installers etc.

If they haven't done it by now I don't think they would how many times do you think people have used dop-ios/TBR, and downloaded stuff with NUSD do you not think nintendo knows what people are doing they could just perform a google search and find out that people are getting the files from their server with many apps

These are two complete other things which you can't compare, at least in my opinion. There is no money involved in IOS-Downloading, so sloppy Nintendo doesn't care. But there is much Money involved in WiiWare/VC Games, so the risk is definitely higher that Nintendo does care. It's all about the money, and not the use.

Something along those lines might be prudent.

Sorry, seriously. I thought this was too easy. I'd actually like to talk about this side more. I didn't think update servers could change too much, otherwise it would break updates for Wii's that haven't been online for ages. I thought it would be more likely for them to leave that side the same and change the Shop channel to use a different system.

Again sorry. If enough people think this should be left alone for technical reasons then I'll do that. I was just trying to learn some C and libogc and this was a tool to hold my interest.

You're not understanding.

They wont track or analyse sale figures for IOS obviously. They will for games they sell to make a profit. If people start using Ns rescources to steal games they make a profit on then they will have all types of facts and figures and meetings and even departments or teams set up to research the figure in depth.

So you can't compare people using their rescources for IOS and other untracked files compared to games etc.

This is why I suggested only giving this app to scene release groups, as N wont notice a handful of people, but they will notice thousands of people using bandwidth for hundreds of games.

but older versions of NUSD used to let you download the games even if the ticket was missing so you have got to admit at least a few thousand people would have tried downloading games

Dito. Played around with NUSD months ago and successfully packed a VC WAD from it, I just think it ain't worth anything, as I don't care for WiiWare and got emulators for VC games..

i made a app and wad folder and i need the files to for the wad installer on my hbc can you give me a better steps to this i got the wads wiiware vc games i want but needs the messenger to install it

please help me out i thank you so confused where to go and what to do as well is there a better issue to fix the wiiremote not to lose sink or not working i am useing a nyko wand wiimote

i hope you will forgive my noobness, but basically the ticket forging process how does it work rxactly?

i take a valid ticket, alter it to match another content and then fakesign it?

i'd like to make some tests, how do i extract a valid ticket from my wii?
