So, I've written 3,000 words of a paper...

I've been going full bore for over a week, and am already one week over the deadline, and am nearly done --

Just one problem, I can't look at the damn thing anymore...

*arghhh*

I really should hand it in tonight... But... my head hurts....

Ellie, most word processors have a word count function.

What's the topic of the essay?
I hate having to write huge essays for shitty topics. It turns into such a crapfest.
But some topics are awesome and make writing huge essays easy.

Ah, I didn't know.

But still, it's pretty useless to count the amount of words, as long as the content of the essay is coherent and well-documented.
Not all the time. Sometimes word count is a useful way of allocating time to each part of your argument. It also allows you to keep track of how you are going in terms of content. That said, word count is not hugely important as you can generally do 10% above or bellow and as long as it looks the right length, the teachers wont care much.
