If you wanted it for emulation, then yes, you shouldn't worry about hacking your Switch.
Here's why:
NES and SNES games are confirmed to be coming via Online and the upcoming Virtual Console service officially.
N64 hasn't, but is extremely likely considering it was also on the Wii and Wii U's VC library.
GameCube and Wii have been confirmed for VC.
Handheld consoles currently unknown, but I expect GB, GBC, GBA, some DS and some 3DS games to be available too.
Current ports on the eShop:
The entire NeoGeo library.
VS. Super Mario Bros. runs on an Famicom/NES hardware equivalent arcade board.
Romancing SaGa 2 was ported from the Super Famicom / SNES.
Pacman VS. which is included in Namco Museum was a port from both the Gamecube and GBA.
Gekido Kintaro's Revenge was ported from GBA.
World of Goo was ported from the Wii.
TLOZ:BOTW, MK8 Deluxe, Little Inferno and a few more games were ported from the Wii U.
Resident Evil Revelations was ported from the 3DS, although it was originally spelled "Revelaitons".
Syberia 1 and 2 were ported from the XBOX. Obviously you shouldn't expect any other XBOX games to arrive on Switch, though!
Others:
GOLF which was on the NES used to be included, but has since been removed.
The Chinese NVIDIA Shield has various Wii and Gamecube games which are likely to eventually receive a release on Switch.
So, considering the only working homebrew so far is an SNES emulator, I really don't see any reason to feel bad for missing out.
