It's mostly old/rich people or nice level-headed farmers around here. I've gone out on a few jobs so far, they've been pretty easy things and I have yet to run into a "no, can't do that" or "you need to trash it and buy a new one" scenario. I usually end up going back more than one day because when I fix one computer, their son's needs help or they have a laptop they have an issue with, or they want their kid's wii set up online, stuff like that. This is a small city (though we have a couple colleges around here) so it's not like an actual job, but it's nice pocket money, and people are pretty appreciative.

Any of y'all ever been in the paper for any type of thing? Article, classified, other?

We know your name, George!
I suppose I should start a small computer repair business for extra pocket-money. I'm a bit worried that I'll come across a computer that needs a clean install of Windows. I can't recover/get their Windows serial key and I'm forced to give them a pirated copy of Windows. I don't want to end up giving people a pirated copy. That's not good business. I doubt they would like it if I told them to purchase a new Windows license.

I've been in a couple of times, often school related; one example was when middle schools were closing as we were returning to a two-tier school system.

There was also a house fire near us in 2007, I think. One of the pictures I took made the front page of the local paper and their website, along with a quote from me (which they misquoted - my dad rang 999, not me). I also emailed a video of the fire to a BBC local news reporter, which I think they played during evening news (didn't get a chance to watch it there).

When I was like 10, I was ina a local paper for climbing a tree to rescue a kitten. I also got a kind of bravery award from the Fireman guy that came afterwards (a pin badge). Other than that, I've never been in any form of news.

If I saw an ad in the paper for computer assistance put out by someone named "Gates", I'd be pretty quick to request assistance.

When one of the hurricanes hit... I can't remember which year, but in front of our house was like a little valley and that flooded so bad you'd have to swim to get out the front gate.

So a picture of that ended up in the newspaper along with a story. We didn't actually show up though....
