Userland bricking? Not likely.

Yellows8 would have been using kernel access. I don't think we could brick with userland access.

But, prove me wrong if you like! ;)
I don't have a quote or anything but I'm pretty sure he bricked it through a service call from usermode. There's a call somewhere which set that LEDs state and something went wrong for him.

Yeah a malformed call to SetInfoLEDPattern could probably cause problems on the i2c bus.

AFAIK it's probably a hardware brick caused by bad hardware values from a userland call.

Thanks to all for your input in setting me straight. I'm surprised to learn we can brick even with only userland access.

The abuse that could come with that.... omg. HENTAI VIEWER ALL OVER AGAIN!
I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Is this some weaboo shit?

I wouldst mess around with it not worth the risk.
I wouldst be careful when using a 2nd person verb with a 1st person pronoun. ;)

On topic though: in fact I'd say LED control is possible. After all, Nintendo programmed it to do certain things. Under certain circumstances we would be able to do the same. My question is how many systems will we have to brick before before we can do it safely?

Well I'm not bricking my majoras mask 3DS just to try get this to work :P

They are sold in Japan. Someone I know imported it, and I traded him some things for it (not my soul).

This reminds me of how changing the LED colors on a 360 via the older Freestyle Dash versions made it so some consoles could not sync controllers until it was set back to normal. at least 360's do not brick from changing the LED colors.

I'm obviously not trying, but maybe themehax protects against this brick?
Unfortunately not, apparently. profi200 directed me to (and then explained because I can't read) Home Menu§Home Menu startup on 3dbrew; gamecoin.dat is read before the theme cache on the SD card.
