The other day I had an interesting idea, maybe there is a way that you could use the memory mapping features of the ARM processors that are in the 3DS to map some memory that is unused in the DS firmware to 0x80000000-0xA0010000. This could allow some of the DS homebrew that could take advantage of Slot-2 memory packs to be properly executed on the 3DS.
I have yet to look into the memory mapping differences in the CPUs on the DS and the 3DS, but I would assume that there are more pages that you could map to the virtual memory spaces on the 3DS.
