Gaming ICQ friend list revocer ?

Well a friend of mine somehow can't log in to his ICQ anymore and he says password recovery does not work for him because the email he used is no more ...

now he wants to somehow recover his friend list but he has no clue how and i don't see any file that i can open that has the numbers in it.

Not trying to be a snob or anything, and off topic, but..

I didn't know people still used ICQ!

It is quite popular in Germany.
The problem is that the contact list is saved server-side. The only hope I know of would be a backup of an installation in which the password was set to remember, it could then be recovered with simple tools.
