This time it will be easier than with the gamecube , for excample it took a looooong time bevore the first cube game got dumped , the wii has got Games dumped all ready , also the wii is an upgraded gamecube in a sence , making some parts of the hacking easier , if you ask me , whe are about to witness the fastest hacking in the history of game piracy.

.... seriously, can anything beat the xbox?

hey guys, let;s end this talk.

Any console WILL surely be hacked.. so far in the history of consoles, every console has been hacked... since the time of PS1 and Sega saturn

when PS2 came out, ppl said that it cannot be hacked.. but what the hell.. look at the number of mod chips for it now.

IT"S A MATTER OF TIME, WII, PS3 GET HACKED

This guy will probably be the first to hack the Wii:

One way to play illegal roms are to emulate Wii´s Connect24...
Connect your Wii to a PC and let the PC emulate Connect24.
The Wii will ask "Hey, give me the list of downloadable VC games please", and the emulator will say "sure, here they are".
Then the player will download any rom he wants and the Wii believes that it is correct.
But first we must find a way to emulate the DRM and the WiiConnect24, and it would probably be stupid to use the same machine while playing online so we need to buy a Wii for "real" games...

FIRST of all you'd have to make your Wii connect to a PC, and for this you'd have to hack the Wii...

the Wii is able to play software from an SD card, so I think this is where the first exploits will be found...

I hope it'll be possible to play pirated games without Nintendo knowing about it...maybe with a modchip that cuts off the internet connection when playing pirated games...but it's still a matter of months and maybe years before we'll see something like that

Nothing is hack proof. Nothing.

Not strictly true...

The Wii is secured with RSA encryption, just like the DS was... Therefore I think it will be easy to hack the Wii, as it was done with the DS...

Obviously you are not quite sure what RSA encryption is. RSA is when there are two keys, a public and a private key. The public key can be accessed by anyone. The private key is used to secure data and protect it from being edited or broken into. This will only work if the public and private key in tact. If you look at the PSP, with the higher firmwares, we are unable to run "unsigned" (AKA, not ones which carry the private key) EBOOTS straight from its XMB. The need to use a buffer overflow of some kind which is very hard to find. If the signed EBOOT is edited then it loses its signature and will not run. The public and private keys are usually massive numbers which have no relation to each other. It is crackable but its protection is the fact that the fastest super computer in the world would take 100 years to crack it.

I am fresh out of the PSP scene remember!

It's like always: Don't try to crack a key... try to steal the key

What I mean is simply that the solution won't be to try to crack that encryption stuff but rather hack the entire machine to drop the check at all. I just say windows-xp validation hacks. Always aim for the weak link in a security system

I've come to the same conclusion that the Wii cannot be hacked, after just 2 days

Every computer and console as far as I know has been hacked, I can't see the wii being any different.

Yes but how do you propose we do that if we cannot run anything without the key? Windows is just .dlls. I think the Wii will be slightly more sophisticated than that. Until I get the console I cannot say one way or another but it seems to me like a hardware hack is the only way.

A mod-chip is required anyways. Besides this the big magic is done in the firmware which is flashed somewhere in the system. Once the baby is flashed with a hacked firmware the party is going on. The problem is only how to get the firmware out of the machine and how to flash it back. Both those have to be possible because Nintendo has to keep the possibility to flash-grade the console as such complex software is always faulty and has to be corrected. Hence a back-door is already there, you just have to find it

today the state of wii hacking is bright, thus we can conclusively deem the OP's old prediction to be false.

lol.
