Hacking i need some help with my G6 lite

i tried updating my G6 Firmware but couldn't. can't seem to figure it out. i put both files in the root directory of the G6 Folder. but when i enter GBA Mode nothing happens. no "update" icon or anything.

and also is there a way to use cheats on ds games? i never understood how to use the built in cheat system.
