recently I've been trying to get project + through usb loader gx as i don't own any copy of brawl but every time i try to load brawl i get exception (dsi) occurred with a bunch of numbers, something saying stack dump, reloading in 20 seconds but not actually reloading, and the disc light turning blue, i have downloaded d2x iso and reinstalled 249 250 and 251 through a tech james video as well as a bunch of wads to fix the errors as well from another tech james videos, after nothing really changing anything i decided to download another wbfs game to see if it was a problem with brawl so i downloaded kirby's epic yarn and now when i even get to the wii games menu in usb loader it immediately crashes, idk really what to do anymore abt it but maybe it has something to do with my project plus already being downloaded and maybe interfering with the brawl wbfs or something else.

Copying Tech James is your issue. Him & many other YouTubers and their shitty softmod guides always say to install Beta 53 in d2x cios installer. Beta 53 is plagued with many issues. WiiFlow and USB Loader wouldn't even load for me upon installing on a fresh Wii.

https://wii.guide/cios.html

Follow THIS guide. Make sure you install
v10 beta52 d2x-v10-beta52 instead. Guarantee your problem will be solved.

Take care my guy <3

I would recommend D2X v8 Final, as it has the highest comparability. For me personally, I never got either v10 to work. Also, make sure that the loader is set to use IOS 249.

yes, v8 is recommend for regular wii; v10 for vwii. I read a post by @Cyan , one of the testers or codes for usb loader gx, that says the same thing.

use the ready to use full pack :

Wii : d2x installer 3.1 v6 v7 v8 v10 v10-alt (you need a working Wifi to nintendo servers)
vWii : d2x installer mod2.2 v10 v10-alt (offline install only !)

extract it so you have this folder structure :

sd:/apps/d2x_installer/
boot.dol
icon.png
meta.xml
ciosmaps.xml
/7/<--- sub-folder only on Wii
/8/ <--- sub-folder only on Wii
/10/ <--- sub-folder both on Wii and vWii

v8 and v10 are identical, only one small change is present in v10 and it could either help or cause issue. if v8 doesn't work, try v10. don't use v10 if not needed.
v9 beta and v10-alt are identical (BETA AND BUGGY !!! do not install)
to prevent users installing the wrong v10, I just suggest v8 on Wii, so there's no mistake.

I don't know what you are talking about.
there's no script, and there's nothing to save or get or whatever.
you are probably trying to mess with NUSD app on your computer. Don't !

extract my zip to SD (where I explained!)
put SD into the Wii, go to HBC
Just launch d2x installer
on the main screen, choose what to install (v8 final, 249, base57, v21008)
Press A and A and let it download and install ..., you don't need anything except a working wifi connection !

why don't you want to use the easy method with wifi and would prefer to pick the long, hard, multi step, error prone, complicated offline method instead?
You don't like to just press A ? sometime, I wonder why users makes it so complicated when it's easy.

if you get dsi errors, it's probably a bug in the loader itself, not the cIOS. no need to reinstall the cIOS.

First, tell us which version of USBLoaderGX you are using.
maybe you have an old one?
Where did you install the loader ? SD or USB ? which USB Port ? top/bottom?

Then, which device are you using ? USB Flash drive, or USB External HDD ?

Next comes the partition format : FAT32, NTFS, exFAT, WBFS ?
And its size and cluster size if you know.

how did you "put" the game on the device ?
Manually with your file explorer ? which file name, which folder?
using a tool ? which tool ? DO NOT USE WBFS MANAGER !
How did you proceed ? you MUST use wii backup manager THIS WAY.

Provide almost ALL you can think about if you want to be helped, nobody can predict or use a crystal ball.

Like you can see, it can be a lot of possible cause, and you didn't tell us anything except you tried to reinstall d2x (which, to me, is not causing any dsi error)

Also, to be sure, which "base IOS" did you put in slot 249 ?
saying you (re)installed a slot is a useless information if you don't tell what you installed in that slot.

"I installed a file in a folder named 249 and it doesn't work" .... yeah, depends what you put in that folder, not its name.
To know what you currently have in all your "slots", you can follow the syscheck guide linked in my signature and post the result here.

and i have it in the apps folder on my sd card and the usb is in usb port 0 the one that recognizes the usb, i also have tried reinstalling the usb loader too, i am using a usb flash drive and a sd card both of which have 32 gb's of space im not sure whats the cluster size but both are both formatted to fat32, i got the brawl iso from vimms lair and then i got wii back up manager 32 and put in a folder called wbfs in drive 1 and then had it go into another wbfs folder on my sd card where brawl became a wbfs file but then i moved the folder with brawl in it to my usb flash drive, i used base 56 when i reinstalled iso 249 and now here is my sys check report.

1)
i got wii back up manager 32 and put in a folder called wbfs in drive 1 and then had it go into another wbfs folder on my sd card where brawl became a wbfs file but then i moved the folder with brawl in it to my usb flash drive,
That step could be one of the problem.
If you are doing things manually, then I wonder why you are even using Wii Backup Manager.
moving a file into another folder yourself is prone to error : Wrong path, Wrong folder name, wrong filename !

I linked above how to properly use the program, and how to properly install games.
in case you missed it :
Wii Backup Manager Proper setup and usage
delete it from your USB device, reinstall it properly using that guide !
and by USB, I don't mean "flash drive" I mean "USB" device, you know, a real external HDD is ALSO an USB device.

2)
i am using a usb flash drive
This is another issue !
USB FLASH DRIVE ARE NOT WORKING ON WII/vWii !
use a REAL USB external HDD.
Best choice is less than 2TB size, single partition, and formatted entirely in FAT32.
either MBR or GPT works, but I recommend MBR.

3)
Your syscheck looks good :)
You'll have better compatibility if you set your loader's setting to use slot250 instead of slot249, as it contains a customized IOS based on IOS57.
IOS57 has better compatibility, so cIOS based on that are better too.
no need to reinstall the slots to switch the base (57 in slot249, and 56 in slot250) because you already have all you need, just change the settings in the loaders to use the slot you want.

USBLoaderGX > Settings > Loader's settings > Game's IOS : 250

if you device is compatible (you'll have to try and see), change also the loader's IOS to 250.
if your USB is not initialized anymore, or the loader can't find it anymore and tells you "switching to channel mode", then set that setting back to 58 and reboot.

if only 58 works, that's your problem : cIOS are NOT COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR DEVICE !
Use a REAL USB HDD !! really !! do that !!!
you don't have one? just buy one !
don't try to stay stuck into something not working because you prefer finding a solution that nobody found in 15 years. just do what works, and play happily instead of wasting your time fixing something unfixable and never playing games.
spend your time in a game, not in the loader :)

4)
Your slots 245/246/247/248 are mostly useless. even more if you don't "use" them.
it's not because you installed something that it's being used. you need to tell the loader which slot you want to use for which game.

Select the game -> option > game's option > IOS : set the slot the loader will use for that game only.

slot246 (where you have base38) is useful only for Animal Crossing city folk if you ever want to use a keyboard. that's all.

Slot247 (where you have base53) is useful only for Sponge Bob boating bash.

Slot249 (where you have base56) is useful mostly for Spyro, if you want to use the NFC portal connected on USB-Port1, and almost all of Guitar Hero and Rock Band games.

All other games are working with base57

There's a Wiki page to check which base is required for problematic games NOT working with base57 : here
strangely (or not so surprisingly), nobody refers to it, and give random and wrong advices.
I often wonder why I spent years to write guides, make packs, update wiki, etc.

If you want to learn more about IOS :
https://gbatemp.net/threads/d2xl-cios-a-fork-of-davebaols-d2x-cios.558581/#post-8968173

5)
i am using version 1.8 of usb loader gx but here is where i got it from https://sourceforge.net/projects/usbloadergx/
If you got it from sourceforge, it's 3.0, not 1.8
And the revision is 1271

when you launch the loader, you see the version and revision displayed at the bottom left of your screen.
If you don't, or if it's ANYTHING but r1268 or newer, then you have an OUTDATED and wrong version !!!

Here is how to update/fix it :

i have gotten an HDD and followed your guide on how to use wii back up manager, now i still do get the same Exception (DSI) Occurred but i noticed that the dsi error occurs when i try to get into the wii channel part of the game (like before you press start and you can go into settings) so because of this i am not able to go into the settings of smash bros brawl to make it run iso 250 same way i could for my mario sunshine. i also really appreciate all your help though as otherwise i probably would've given up by now lol @Cyan

well, i think ists because of the size because sometimes if you go to websites they'll give parts so that it will work.

i think its because of the size because as you can see some websites who pirated wbfs wil separate the games in parts and super smash bros brawl is atleast five parts and a whole big and chunky file wont do it

Not sure if this will help, but I had the same issue (which lead me to this thread), I moved out/deleted the TitlesCache.bin file and all worked fine again
