It sucks, but I can't say that it wasn't my fault. I took good care of my Wii until I was planning to sell it, then everything goes bunk. I'm curious, though, because updating would solve the IOS problem. And I'm almost positive everything was to my region. Seems like some homebrew will curse you even if you don't touch its options and you format your wii.

Will the Wii let you update again from the settings menu if you are already at 3.4? I don't get the not loading originals, I would imagine it has to be an IOS issue. Do backups still work, since you said you still had cIOSCORP when you formatted. The update to 3.4 should have effectively wiped out corp, but who knows.

Trying to go back and read what you've tried so far. how did you update to 3.4? ARC? or update via wii settings screen?

Updated via Nintendo. Backups don't work because cIOScorp is completely gone. GameCube originals work, though. Still, that's different from a Wii code so I'm sure it might not be the region as region changing most likely changes it for both Wii and Cube games. I just wanna install any necessary IOS and get rid of this thing

I'm sure there's no way to get this back together unless I can boot HBC somehow.

if 3.5 is avaible for download then it will at least reinstall as many IOS as neccesary for making the Wii works back again..!!

Trying to narrow down the possibilities on what is actually wrong.
If you go into the Wii settings menu. Everything works? If there is a console/sysmenu mismatch, I believe you'd get a web-page looking error screen. Can someone confirm this?

Having ruled that out, you say GC originals load, so the Sys menu can 'see' all the games you put in, they show up in disc channel? so sysmenu 3.4 and IOS50 are probably fine too.

How many different original wii games have you tried? Which ones? Maybe it's just one particular IOS that's fucked up and not all of them. Did you try TP or did you just assume it didn't work?

You'd probably have to go and re-enable WC24 and Standby. Don't believe these are on by default.

The red led is standby, the orange led is: The Wii is running, just without fans running and without video output.

WTF? The red led is off with the power still plugged in. The orange led is standby. WC24 is also off by default.

How do you define "standby"? I define it by: When i press the power button on the device or the power button on its remote, the device turns on. In standby mode the device consumes as less power as possible(

Steph, if as a last resort, you need someone to fix it, I'll be happy to... I've brought several Wii's back to life after some really bad bricks.

PM me if that's a route you wanna take

Yes, I'd do it for free.

I would swap out her drive with my modded drive, use the SaveMiiFrii trick (since I've done it on 4 different Wii's, and know my controller works), and set up 3.4U on her Wii with no lingering effects of any softmods.

Since the Wii doesn't have a warranty sticker to break, no one other than her will ever know it's been opened.

Hell, I'll even toss on the new "Get Connected' video channel, and if she still has the box, she can return it to a WalMart and get the full price back!

(not so) seriously... puh-tay-toes, puh-tah-toes; you guys wanna call them "Low Power Consumption Modes 1 and 2?"
smile.gif

Low Power Consumption modes 1 and 2 are fine for me. Mode 1 takes 1.3 Watt, mode 2 takes 9.6 Watt and maximum power consumption is 18 Watt [source: Wikipedia].
