Speaking about Wii's and DS games, I could've sworn that Ace Attorney was on the Wii. Maybe it was VC. I've definitely seen it, that's for sure. Was it it's own thing or VC?

5.5 is the new 9.2.

It really isn't. While the IOSU exploit could be ported to 5.4+ firmware, a 5.4+ webkit exploit would first have to exist. Stagefright isn't what we thought it was, and there is no guarantee that what they are working on will ever be finished. That's all they can (and should...) say, is that it's being worked on. I'm not trying to bring you guys down, but that's the reality of the situation.

I'm on 5.0.0 and I can't play some games probably because of missing system libraries that were implemented in 5.3.2. Would it be possible to stay on a low firmware and still be able to play newer games with the iosu exploit?

I can't read these threads anymore, it's a full force facepalm every other post when people who can barely hook up their systems to the TV start posting about things that are way over their fucking heads.

It will require a separate WebKit exploit first. It's not a problem for firmwares 2.0.0 to 5.3.2, but firmware versions 5.4.0 and 5.5.0 still need to have a proper exploit done. This is being worked on as well (it would be a bit pointless to release a working IOSU exploit without the WebKit entry points for 5.4.0/5.5.0).

In other words, the goal is to release everything at once, giving people more than enough time to prepare themselves. It wouldn't be fair to release the exploit only for up to 5.3.2 and leave 5.4.0/5.5.0 users in the dust.

Guess some people missed the piece of info bolded. Just from that, he is going to get webkit exploit working for 5.4+.

Just one information I think is worth mentioning in the "should I update"
The 5.4.0 firmware still has the OSDriver exploit working, which means if you only got a webkit exploit you can still benefit from what 5.3.2 guys have without the IOSU exploit, it's always useful to have more than one entrypoint. So yeah, I would say, stay on 5.4.0 while you can always update to 5.5.0 using a game disk in worst cases, going back is never possible.

Exactly, never update just because you think a new hack will save you. Wait it out just to be sure, as going back from an update is impossible on a stock system.

Nintendo doesn't just make firmware updates for new features, it also makes firmware updates to block exploits.

Agreed. The thread should only be used to discuss the exploit, which isn't released yet. So unless someone has to comment about the exploit becoming available, they should post about off topic posts elsewhere.

Just don't update, you'll never need a 5.6 exploit unless you are late to the hacking scene and want to hack it mid to late 2016
