I have my 3ds since launch and kept up to date on 3ds modding. People have given up on permanently thanks to flash cards and emunand. So yes it is become a crutch to proper system modding.

You can't write to a ROM, that's why it's called Read Only Memory. And since we can't write to it, we can't permanently mod the 3DS to bypass boot protection. They only "gave up" because it's basically impossible.

It's kinda silly really, Hykem said it would take about a week to release his IOSU exploit (which will work on FW 2.0-5.5) and for some reason people not only think he meant exactly one week but also think we will do some crazy mid-night release XD

Nah, nothing was promised to happen tomorrow.
Hykem said that around next week "which is this week" is a more reasonable time for the IOSU exploit to be ready. But he didn't give an exact date. I rather he takes his time since he's also preparing entry points for both 5.4.0 and 5.5.0, not only 5.3.2 and bellow.

Got this too, but it happend right after I set my tubehax DNS, so it might just be because of that, especially because I haven't seen anything anywhere suggesting a new FW release.
