how do I uninstall dml? do I need to install a fresh ios 10?

Installing a normal Mios should indeed do the trick.

if an older version of DML is installed, it may require a clean "BC" be installed instead of MIOS to remove it. Most likely you've got a newer version installed, but to be certain you're removing it you can installed a clean BC and a clean MIOS

when u say bc, r u referring the the bc listed under system with the NUS downloader? and, bc and ios 10 r essentially the same thing, correct? mios is the modified version of ios 10 or bc? It's been quite a while since I soft-modded my system, so I don't remember all the terminology too well or what does what.

BC and mios are not the same thing. BC can be compared with boot2 (but for gc games). Mios can be seen as an ios for gc games.

Yeah I don't even know where you're getting IOS10 from.

To cover all your bases just grab the latest versions of BC and MIOS and install those.
