Hacking How to setup R4 Gold 3ds? newb questions.

Ok I feel like a total newb... I purchased two R4 Gold 3ds cards and got two 8gb micro sd card's and have two Nintendo 3ds systems; stock firmwares are 6.1.0-12u and 4.5.0-10u. First off should I update the firmwares or leave them alone as they are stock? Is there anything you are "not supposed" to do with the 3ds having the R4? (like connecting to the internet, firmware updates, etc..?) Any tips are appreciated not to brick the device. (yes I read the bricking rumor thread.)

The card I got is; R4i Gold 3DS (RTS) I purchased it from; http://www.realhotstuff.com/R4i-Gold-3DS-RTS_p_86.html

I downloaded a firmware and the R4 boots up, but dosent show any backup games in the folder I've created. Maybe i downloaded the wrong one, anyone know what I should do or know for a starter? Maybe you guys would know the "correct" firmware to download and put in the microsd card for this R4 device?

You need to follow the guide document included with the firmware (The download is called "Firmware and Manuals") here. It'll tell you exactly what you need to do to get your games running. Good luck!

Great..... I just now realized I need Gateway 3ds in order to play 3ds backup's. total epic fail. LOL.
