Hacking How to play region locked retail games?

Hello, I have a 3ds from the US and today I bought pokemon x. As it turns out, its a european version, and it from what I have understood I cannot play it on my ds because it is region locked. I have an R4i STHC for 3ds, which only plays DS games. Is there any way for me to unlock the region lock??

Nope only if your 3DS is on FW 4.5 or below, and to answer the usual follow on question there is no way to downgrade unless you dumped your nand when you where on 4.5 or below, and to answer the next usual follow on question, it has to be a dump from your specific 3DS you can't use one from another console.......I suggest you take the game back if you are not on FW version 4.x and buy a US version

Only if your 3ds is on firmware 4.5 or lower, check in system settings, but if it's past 4.5.....no
