Hi,

I'm new to this. I have a D2CKey modchip Wii (new), as of now do I need to have TP ? is there any type of launcher that doesn't need TP ?

thanks

No, you need TP.
As of now you do not need tp or the tp hack, you obviously dont know what youre talking about. Try looking at the latest version of the homebrew launcher.

......What?

What ever way you try to get homebrew running you'll always end up using TP. To install/use the homebrew loader you need TP. So yeah, i do know i'm talking about since i made this guide and i know alot about homebrew....
Theres a simple answer to that....The homebrew launcher channel......
Edit: I Submitted this post after you edited your last post so yeah....

How do you install that? via the wad installer, which you install using TP.

I'm having a problem (trying to) loading a WAD onto my Wii.

This is what happens after I talk to the guy in TP:
Code on screen.
Stops after a few seconds

*Presses A on GameCube Pad [Slot1]*

Message:
>>Boot.eld
Wad-In".elf

*Presses A again*

Some more code appears:

Something like:
00a1ee48 90E0003C ********
00a1ee58 ******** ********
00a1ee68 ******** ********

Then nothing happens.
Tried pressing buttons on Gamecube,Wii-Remote, and Nunchuck with no luck.
Had to reset by unplugging the power lead.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
The SD card contents are like:
ROOT:
boot.elf
>>>>wad:
title.wad (Wad file for the wiiware game)
>>>>elf
boot.elf
wad-installer.elf

Any idea what I'm doing wrong or missing?

i don't understand what your sd card is laid out like. You can only have one .elf on the root of your SD Card does ">>>>" mean folder? you dont make a folder called elf. The folder has to be called Homebrew, in that folder you make another folder which you put what every homebrew .elf you want in there. I think you need to read the last part of the guide more carefully.

Umm, maybe I missed something but the Homebrew Channel can be installed without Twilight Princess, but it requires a modchip that can boot burnt media. I installed the Homebrew Channel just fine with my D2Pro and a DVD-RW burnt from the HBC ISO.

Also, the HBC ISO installer may become useless if Nintendo patches the Trucha exploit on which, I believe, the HBC ISO relies. The TP hack could be patched as well, so I'd install the HBC before updating your Wii in the future

Risks involved?
No one has mentioned any risks of bricking, stuffing up etc...
So i'm askin is there any chance of bricking? if so, how much of a chance?

Does the Wii have to be modded?

Thanks man, and nice n00b guide. I needed it

The Twilight Hack is just a save file, so there is more than likely no risk of bricking when placing it on your Wii. When you install something on the Wii, like the new Homebrew Channel, there is always a chance that something could go wrong. However, as far as I know, no bricks have been reported from attempting to install the channel. As far as future updates are concerned, I would just check sites like Wiibrew.org, along with this one, to see how any hacks are affected, before updating.

The Wii does not have to be modded. However, you will need to have access to the Wii version of Twilight Princess, in order to run the Twilight Hack at least once, to install the Homebrew Channel.

Hey Prime help would be great, and I recently got my wii.
My english isn't so good since Im arabic,so I am having trouble following your guide.
All I want to do is download emulators for the snes and nes,but I can't understand how.
What exactly do I have to do.
What channels do I need.
You see I have downloaded the twilight hack, and put it in the right place, but when I talk to the guy is it suppose to freeze?
Also I want to do this without causing major problems with my wii.
What would be even better if you could upload a folder with everything ready, and call that folder sdcard, and all one would have to do would copy the folders, files and put them in their sd card.
I know this seems confusing, but I don't understand what to do.
Also for the snes emulator, were would I put the roms. All help is appreciated.

No sorry, i don't have time to do your dirty work for you.

All you need is the emultors .elf and the homebrew loader.

Each homebrew has a different folder in the folder "Homebrew" which is in the sd root.

can we please continue this in Private messages?, i prefer it that way.

Nobody said it can't' be.

I'm not here to argue, but you did state that you do need TP to run homebrew, see the quoted posts below. All I'm saying is that modchip users don't have to: they can install the Homebrew Channel using the ISO and run homebrew from that, without touching TP ever. Users without a modchip will need TP to run homebrew or install HBC
