Hacking How to add Cyrillic into a pokemon game?

I wanna add cyrillic into Pokemon Platinum to do a Russian translation of it, how can i do this?

There was a similar thread a while back.

Two general approaches.

1) You replace existing characters with Cyrillic. You might even be lucky and find the Japanese or English or whatever versions include Greek letters which can be used to make up the Cryrillic alphabet. Japanese tending to provide several hundred at least potential characters to replace where English might be more limited in some scenarios.

2) You add them into the encoding somehow. On older systems this is quite annoying to do but if pokemon uses the NFTR font format (and I believe some of them do) then you can add new characters to those easily enough. I couldnt find NFTR file in Pokemon Platinum files, is it the only way?

I thought it did use such things -- there used to be a tool to handle the slight tweak on the format it used. Might have been another version though.

Otherwise yeah find the font and its graphical representation and alter that to be Cyrillic or decode the font handling enough that you can add new characters/valid decodings into the mix and add them in instead. The former is usually so much fiddling with a tile editor where the latter, which is usually the better outcome, needs to fiddle with the code and is not necessarily a project I would put upon those new to ROM hacking.
