It was an ps1 port with slightly added features, right?KingVamp said:Push out too quickly. That what happens when a game is rushed.

His account might have been compromised? Or maybe just a bad day. I know I had one the other day when some jerk and his friend in their car prevented me from merging onto the freeway, all the while both giving me the bird like they owned the road.

That's either a good or a bad thing. If the focus was on shaders and such, then the graphics can be made to look great as soon as development really ramps up, but the emulation capability will be cut.heartgold said:Back on topic, How powerful is the 3DS exactly?
We don't know, hell it could be very under powered(less cpu cycles) but the advance shaders and what the GPU can do make it's graphics look on par with the wii and above.

It should be obvious- Ubisoft once again rushing out games to coincide with launch. I bought Rayman 3D, developed by them as well. Despite being a fun game and perfectly playable, what we are dealing with is a port of a ~12 year old Dreamcast game with the added addition of an unstable framerate and removal of the original shading/lighting. Also, a lot of glitches with graphics/sound as well. The 3DS is CLEARLY a lot more powerful than DC and capable of producing far superior graphics than DC. The only one at fault and the only reason for the downgrade is Ubisoft. That's the sole reason why their games end up looking worse than *insert technically weaker system than 3DS here*. We're seeing other companies making games that are turning heads everywhere, putting some effort into their work. Yet we've got the lazy Ubisoft doing what they do best- underachieving just to make a quick dirty dollar. Just because a game shows a clear lack of visual effort does not mean that's all the parent system is capable of. If that were the case, our benchmark for visual fidelity on SNES would be Mario World instead of DKC (or Mario RPG). Or in terms of N64, we see Mario 64 as the most technically advanced game instead of Conker. I could go on. The point is, you take the BEST of what a system can do to see what it's made of, not purposefully choose the less impressive games.Feels Good Man said:Thesolcity said:PROTIP: NOTHING IS USED AT IT'S FULL POTENTIAL AT LAUNCH
I know but still. COMPARING RIDGE RACER PSP TO RIDGE RACER 3DS, why is the 3DS visually less impressive and suffers from performance problems.

On the other end of the spectrum, we've got developers like Capcom. Resident Evil Mercenaries and Revelations are both pushing very advanced visuals. Graphically, you can't deny what they've achieved. Regardless of what you try to claim, the games are pushing effects that just would NOT be possible on the PSP whatsoever. Anyone trying to tell you otherwise is in denial (or blind in some way, sorry). Argue all you like about how pretty the games are to your eyes, but the games are using graphical effects that the PSP cannot support. It's called being realistic. It's a shame that some people can't see past their own pride to realize the obvious.
Another good example of what the 3DS can do is Metal Gear Solid 3D. All we've seen is a rushed tech demo, but we've seen enough to see what the 3DS can do when given proper attention. It is also noteworthy that these are early gen games. It's inevitable that games will look even better later on in life.
The raw processing power remains mostly unknown. All we know about the CPU has always been known and obvious- ARM based. The memory at least is quite speedy, apparently superior to DDR2 memory in terms of speed. The CPU will mostly determine what sort of complex AI and physics can be processed. The system can at least hold its own in terms of visuals though.
