Homebrew how long would it take to turn aperture science 3d into a garry's mod ripoff for 3ds?

I would love a garry's mod for 3ds but the closest I found it graphic wise if it were to be on the 3ds would be aperture science 3d by smealum just take away the levels and add more guns along with the portal gun and give it a sandbox like atmosphere and you have garry's mod for 3ds.... I may say this like it would be easy but it would be complicated so please respond and tell me what you think of this

Nobody wants to do it, so it will never get done.
And yes, it would be _very_ hard.

Nah, I'm more in the mood for a completely original FPS game for N3DS with working online multiplayer, all written for homebrew.

the problem is, that will never happen
unless you give smea and all other great homebrew makers a million dollars ;)

Wow, all the negative responses here. ;-;

From a technical standpoint, a VERY rough GMod could be done, but it would take a hell of a lot of time and work. And that's just for a demo, something completely playable would take even longer. I wouldn't count on anyone making it either, between the people who loathe the game for it's godawful community, and the fact that it's so much time and work to merely rip off an already complete game.

Maybe you could make it, if you put the time into learning code. :)

EDIT- Not to mention, I doubt the o3ds could handle it. I guarentee that, if this ever was a thing, it would be for the n3ds only.

If you want it, you can make it happen. If you have gamedev experience you can get a poc in a couple of weeks, if don't have experience maybe a couple of months. Start a team with some people, even if you don't finish it you will have lots of fun. Btw, not knowing how to program is not an excuse

So true.
You may want to start small, my first game was a Mad Libs clone, and now look at me, making games with balls(pong, brick breaker, etc.) :P

it would be incredibly laborious and so massively crippled it's funny. plus the only particularly enjoyable thing about gmod is the multiplayer and addon support, so good luck implementing those.

Just because it looks like a Valve game, it's still very different under the hood. You probably wouldn't get much advantage doing it like that than just starting from scratch. Either way, it's far too much work for something like that. If you want it, then nothing is really stopping you from making it yourself.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol

So that version is semi rare
