Hacking How does it work

I'm not asking for help regarding aquilino's method to load discs from Disc Channel w/o cIOSCORP. I want to know how his method works. So basically it autoboots wanin's menu patcher.dol using preloader. But why do you need the 10000043.app. I understand thats the system menu, but what role does it play in his method?
