As of now, at the moment, I would recommend getting your son a DS and an R4 Delta Games 'n' Music. There are a few beta Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 emulators out there for the DS, most of them run at decent framerates (15 - 18). DolphinDS (Gamecube Emulator) also emulates Gamecube games rather well, 25 fps average. However, there are many sound and music issues.

LAW!! i remember the R4 delta games 'n' music in that read where the guy could get roms to work on his R4 Delta games 'n' music i love that tread and i love this one even more, i can't stop luaghing!!man i love my R4 delta games 'n' music don't you?
