Sometimes, especially in fast moving games, you can bump it accidentally. That happened to me last night when I was playing StarFox. I got to this one segment where you're fighting this skeleton thing with a tank, almost had it dead and then the "software closed" menu popped up.

I had my rage face on after that. My wife giggled at me. She thinks my rage face is cute.
Because your hands are gripping the 3DS in such a way that you accidentally press the power button, right?

It's times like that, someone should make a save state snapshot like how we used to have in the GBA and DS days.

Yeah.

Mine is a New 3DS XL, so the power button is on the actual bottom of the case there, instead of on the system's lower face. I had my hand kinda wrapped around the system so I could hit the R button and the Y/B buttons, and my palm bumped the power button.

Technically this would be possible to do since HANS already changes how the power button works, at least the delay could be changed so you have to hold it down a few seconds to shut down. But HANS isn't open source, so only smealum can make it happen.

Luckily this isn't an issue at all on the small n3DS. I have to use my nails to press the damn thing and even then it takes effort. It's pretty annoying actually, I wish they would have just left the power button on the top.

But but but..His issue isn't the Sky3DS, it's the 3DS in itself :P

Also I think he uses gateway seeing as to how the mentioned the options he could perform, like running CIA
Same concept.

The payload does :P HANS only makes the payload continue running in the background.

Okai, I don't think it is as simple as removing an applet. The power button works with the NAND mod and that is literally just the bare bones of the console. The power button would have to have something intercepting the signal, probably a hard mod, if I had to guess. I am not entirely sure you can disable a button.

Cheers for that. Do you happen to know the difference between the regular version and the "always" version that are both included in that archive?

yep i have hit this issue a few times, best advice is to remove you pinky from the equation, pliers do the job pretty well....but it is annoying that a single press just closes the software, but doesnt actually turn the 3DS off.....so they know pressing it quickly doesn't necessarily mean you want to turn it off, they could at least ask "do you want to turn it off or just return to your game?

well at least it not just me holding the 3DS like a idiot....:P

When i use Homebrew i don't have a problem, HBL with grid from masher has a power off option, but it really is a problem when you are just in the 3ds home menu, Nintendo doesn't have that option the power off the system by the touch of an icon.
