Gaming Hollow Knight not dashing

The short of it is that my Hollow Knight refuses to dash, ever.

I started the game using the homebrew cheat ... Einstein? The name slips me at the moment. I enabled all the abilities and played around, dash didn't work. So I went and got the mothwing cloak, still no dash. So I started a new legit game and went and got the mothwing cloak... still no dash.

All the other abilities work fine with no apprehend errors. They work through legit means as well as by just activating the cheat, but dash I cannot get to work.. at all.

Anyone else having issues with this?

I just realized I haven't tried playing it on OFW yet, I've just been using my dump on CFW so I could play with the cheats. I don't see how that would make a difference but I'll test it out on OFW once I get some free time to play again lol.

there's no dash by default, it's a power you will acquire later

I think you misread, or perhaps I didn't explain correctly. The moth wing cloak is what unlocks the ability in normal gameplay, however in my playthrough it didn't work. In fact I reached the end (one of them), acquired all the items needed to unlock all the powers, all of which worked except dash. I also did a playthrough using cheats where I started the game with all powers activated (including dash) all of which worked, except dash.

You have to unlock it later in the game.
