Gaming Hi I am new to ds modding

So as the title says I am a bit new to this but not a new modder in general. I was wondering what are my options to modding my dsl? I know there are some mods you have to buy chips for etc but is there any that you don't have to buy fancy software for the dsl? What about the 3ds? What are the advantages and cons to each?? Theres not much in the way of physical or even software modding you need to do. Just buying a cart will handle most of your needs.

If you're wanting to do any physical mods, you can always attempt a case replacement, or, if you're running the original Nintendo DS, you can always install a capture unit, but other than that, there isn't really any need to open up the system for running homebrew or roms.
