That is fucking retarded. Whoever thought of that is some 70 year old fuckhead politician who I encourage to commit fucking come out as a retard.
To add insult to injury, technically Nintendo owns the software inside the system.... so your actually committing vandalism of their own code (Presuming when we talk property, where also talking digital property, btw, you don't own any of your games either. That also is the property of the company who made it. That bit is a legal grey area)

Now just to make sure everyone is on the same page, I fully support homebrew, I just got to be a smartass sometimes.

before all the is it safe to update crap comes:

The majority of this thread is the reason I sometimes have to leave gbatemp for some months at a crack.
well then why are you here? Plus its not like the entire gbatmp site is dedicated to hacking of consoles. There are some discussions on other stuff you know.

It's already been confirmed by multiple trusted people it's safe

Has it? As far as I know the updated modules haven't been reverse engineered to determine the changes yet. It is still quite possible that they added additional data collection code in preparation for another ban wave. Think about it, why would they have a stability update that doesn't even fix any exploits (*hax payloads still work, ntr "cfw" still works, luma still works.

well no duh its safe with bootstrap. However its once Nintendo starts throwing in the bans is when everyone should get concerned.

I see very little discussion about hacking of consoles, and mostly mudslinging at nintendo (and somehow sony?) and a bunch of misinformation/scare tactics.

You can get banned on any firmware

Well they did patch/change the eshop and some of the spotpass stuff so it is possible that this update is to let them collect more data for another larger banwave. It just seems suspicious to me, to do a "stability" update and not patch any exploits/hacks.

check wiiu hacking and wii hacking pages. And of course there is going to be misinformation, this is the internet in 2017 where people take word of mouth and run with it. Not even second guessing the information being told.
