I broke my old 3ds so until I got a new one I converted my save and used it with NO$GBA. But now I cannot seem to get the save to work in twilight menu again. What's the fix?

Is there any errors that are showing when you converted the nogba save extension back?

the game (Partners in time) just creates a new save file. also is there a tool I can use to convert the save? I am on Linux, but I can try anything through wine.

Also the no$gba save is 1kb while the one twilight menu uses is 512kb. I also tried using the shunny web converter but I do not know what option would work for twilight menu, as I have had no success so far.

So is there an easy way I can decompress it for use with twilight menu++?
As was pointed out in my above post #5, see the example in that other thread's post #18. Change the save settings in NO$GBA.INI. Launch and resave each game to convert their save files from compressed to raw. You may need to do additional tinkering to convert between different save formats with those other mentioned website and program.

I fount the correct area. But what do I change compressed to?

Ok. I tried that, now I am getting a data error in the game.
Did you make backup copies of the SAV files before you tried converting them from compressed to raw?

Also, going from COMPRESSED → RAW might not be enough. You might need to do an additional conversion to what that game's specific save format should be. A particular NDS title's save type can be looked up at:

How do you mean?
Your collection of saves, did you make a 2nd set for safe keeping?

In the event converting the saves from,
  • COMPRESSED → RAW in NO$GBA
  • FORMAT A → FORMAT B with [ shunyweb / NDS Save File Converter ]
, those backup (unedited) saves will be insurance in case converting them results in data corruption.

Well I got to my latest save point in NO$GBA and my latest backed up version is from my broken 3ds. I am able to use that one just fine, but obviously I want to use my latest save.

Before you start messing with the latest saves for games played on NO$GBA, you should make copies of those files before you edit or convert them. This way, if the data or progress on those worked on save files are junked or turn out wrong, you still those unedited copies to fallback on as a safety net.

Attach a save for a game you wish to convert. I'll walk you through on converting that save as an example. If you upload more than one save, I'll arbitrary choose just one as a demonstration.
