I been trying to run a few games via Dosbox. Games like Leisure Suit Larry 1, Gods & BloodNet but can never get video but I can get sound.

The only settings I have played with under options is machine type but still can't get video

I'm using Retroarch's dosbox CIA

Because that's mainly for point and click adventures so games like Gods isn't compatible
See the win3.1/95/98 thread, the OP attached a modded retroarch DOSBox, it may help you if you try to adapt the script which boots windows to actually load a game instead. Or maybe you can boot Windows and then try to launch a game

I have a N3DS with Luma3DS with arm9 on 11.0.0.3 firmware and I just can't get anything to run in Dosbox, even running windows 95 from a post on here. I get a black screen and that's it.

I'm running the latest stable Dosbox .CIA release

Yes as its a different question considering I haven't had any luck with an answer since last Friday

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

This happened to me earlier today, but then I tried the .3dsx version and it worked so idk

Yeah I just tried that and that works but the .CIA versions run better I been told

Only really against the rules if it A) doesn't contribute to the thread and/or B) is done so within 24 hours of last activity, which is in the clear here.

It is curious though, why is the dosbox.cia in retroarch not working? Is it just being used wrong or is it just simply not working at this time? If the latter then it might have to go until it's usable.

Can we keep the convo to the actual topic please? lol

Yes I'm doing everything right like checking if the exe actually works with Dosbox by running it under Dosbox on my Windows PC first.

The 3DSX version of Dosbox works but its not as fast as the CIA version so that's why I want to use the CIA version.

I'm guessing it's got to do with the fact that I'm on the latest firmware and a lot of guides say to run CIA files on firmwares 9.2 and lower

Latest firmware should be fine provided you're using a firmware bin file to circumvent the problems 11.0 presents. Retroarch is working fine for all my other emulators except for dosbox so it might just be a problem with the .cia itself unless somebody else can confirm.

Well im updating Luma3DS regularly so I hope the firmware.bin file is too?

Merged the two threads. Anyway I tried running the Dosbox CIA on 11.0 and I got nothing at all from it, so I assume that there's some issue with it.

Yes that's the problem i'm getting too so thank god its not just me lol

I think the guide by Plailect should say not to update to the latest firmware because of problems like this and other problems like decrypt9 not giving out the right xor keys
