This may be a long shot, but i was thinking:

We should have a well respected member from GBAtemp go over to the XDA Developers forums and plead our case for getting the 3ds Hacked for home brew and what not.
Granted the XDA people are mostly into mobile phones/tablets and the like, this may not be there thing, but they are very skillful and talented. Plus a fresh set of eyes on the 3DS Hack scene may do a world of good.
Thoughts?

Patience my friend patience.

Once 3DS gets fully hacked it is a matter of time.

Now even the gateway is not a full hack, an exploit for a specific firmware and nothing more.

I wish someone would try to get android running on the vita. It suits the console very well. I don't see teams like CyanogenMod trying to hack the console's OS for "homebrew"

That's the thing, its not hacked, not at all. And so far little to no progress has been made in the past 2 years. The XDA forums is a huge community of engineers and developers, a utopia of the kind of man power to fill our hacking needs. Like a custom 3ds OS with home-brew and on board rom loader.

Me too wish there is Android running on Vita...:( My vita collecting dust for near a year or more...:(

THIS IS THE 3DS SECTION, NOT VITA. Please stay on topic.

I don't think you need to post a thread on xda-developers asking for help. It's not as if 3DS is a little-known system, so anyone interested in hacking it, or who has the skills to hack it, will already be aware of it.

If you browse around enough subforums on XDA you'll see there are phones that haven't yet been rooted or hacked fully. Not to speak ill of XDA members (since I am one) or anything but phone manufacturers don't have as much to lose to hacking as Nintendo do. I can't imagine phone security would be as tough as the 3DS.

Phone gets hacked = Person can use different ROM/change carrier etc. Phone manufacturer doesn't give a shit as the person already owns the phone (or is leasing through telco)
3DS gets hacked = Potential actual loss of profit for Nintendo, developers, publishers, distributors etc

More or less they are not interested in helping people run pirated games
they have a strict 0 tolerance policy on piracy
even if you claim its for homebrew, they know its not

Dear XDA Developers,
I would really like to play donkey kong, but I don't have forty bucks. Since the DS had a touch screen and fits in your pocket. It's practically a smart phone right? So if you don't mind would you please hack the 3ds real quick? I mean you guys are hackers the 3ds needs hacking put one and one to together and you're all good. So just get to it okay.

Thank you,

also I like how the guy who started this beyond moronic thread freaked out when people who couldn't handle the stupid started mentioning the vita. THIS IS A SERIOUS DS THREAD GUYS GET THE HELL OUT WITH YOUR VITA NONSENSE ALMIGHTY!

I don't think XDA devs really specialize in video game system hacking, from what I've seen they mostly work on Android, which is already an Open-Source OS and nothing like the 3DS's Firmware.
There are already several teams who are specialized in video game system hacks working on the 3DS. I suggest just leaving it to them, they know what they are doing and just need time to do it.

In all fairness, the OP probably got the idea from how Geohot took a break from hacking iPhones to hack the PS3. I mean, those aren't alike, either. Nobody suggested that everyone on XDA Dev would have the expertise to hack a games console, but all you'd need is one person (theoretically) and it's quite easily possible that person exists there. I'm not saying it's a good idea though.

I find this thread rather odd. You're asking a forum if it's a good idea to ask an unrelated forum for help on something ― why not just ask the unrelated forum in the first place? I mean, they're the only people who can tell you whether it's a good idea to ask them or not.

What about potential "actual" loss of profit for the Android Market/Google Play?

@Xdqwerty, People who create revival services for the Wii end up in disaster, same goes for Pretendo lol.

@SylverReZ, atleast wiimmfii went fine although people only use it for Mario kart Wii
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
At least if they ban you for cheating, get another Wii. They're cheap as chips.

    not really
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
It got shutdown because somebody "accidentally" leaked the database for the amount of people using the beta.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
RiiShop is the laziest way of downloading Wii games. Did somebody not think of this through?
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
although i ended up accidentally changing my nand with no way of going back bc i didn't know you needed a gamecube controller to restore it (i have a wii minus/1.1, which doesn't have gamecube controller support)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, I think you're talking about the recovery mode that the SaveMii used, and also was to restore softbricked systems.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
If your NAND was hardbricked, then just buy another Wii. Or go with the dirty NAND flasher method.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
and if i find the sd card i have my NAND backed up on, i can not only restore the NAND if i solder the right part in, but i can also put my NAND on dolphin, then i can play dolphin online, like PMEX Remix or MKWii Riibalanced
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    Brb
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, Oh yeah, that was a thing too. Dolphin does support Wiimmfi.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
yeah you just need to put your NAND backup with wiimmfi on it
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
ngl i feel like if a bunch of my friends have wiis and know how to get wiimmfi and back up their NAND, then we could do a PMEX Remix tournament
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
maybe even add UMVC3/DBFZ and make it a biathlon/triathlon
