So I want to play backups off a usb device, but I dont want to purchase or look for some kind of compatable hard disk.

If I purchase a 4 gig USB dongle thing, will that work? I dont mind swapping out games from my PC.

If I do use a small USB device, which loader would you recommend?

a normal wii disk can hold up to 4.7G
many games use that space

a dual layer is almost twice as big
but the rare dl games might not use all of it

imho 8G is a must
16G if you want to backup all games

maybe buy an enclosure for an old drive you have form a pc?

16 gb kingston sticks all seem to work, so I think Ill get one of those. Thank you all.

Im wary of using an old drive, my USB connected external drive, when connected to my Wii, causes a power outage in my house by tripping a circuit breaker. I dont wanna chance my home's electric system, so Im gonna use a stick.

Outlet to hard disk to wii to outlet seems to make my house cry.
