Gaming Help! - Animal Crossing - Character Editing

hey...

i'm really struggling with the name editing in animal crossing on ds.

i use the animal map editor and all i want to do is edit my chara's name. thats all. but every time i update the save it just doesn't allow me to continue the game when i boot it up.

i am using an m3 simply with v1.10 firmware. the region of my game is Europe.

just to clarify the m3 must recognise that the save file is on the card because it doesn't ask if i want to create a new one. all the cheats are turned off too.

i'm really stuck. would hex-editing be an option? can anyone tell me how to edit the file so it can be recognised by the game?

any advice would be totally awesome!

Make sure no codes are on; the M3/R4 doesn't support codes for Animal Crossing for Some Reason.

yeah i just wanna edit an old save file with my actual name.... i used some really tacky name before it sucks now. do you get me?

just the name. i have map editor and everything. its just getting me down a bit............
