Just a small question.

I want to play Xenosaga series from hard drive - and every list in (every one of the TWO I know of...) says they all are compatible - but the interesting thing is that aside Xenosaga Ep. 1 - Xenosaga 2 and 3 are both two disc games.

Now, I am not nuclear scientist, and that is not needed to get the memo that - multidisc game kinda do not work right with HDloader - or do they? is there way to play Xenosaga from HDD?

Is there say, possible to save to disc save, and load from second disc?

I dunno, enlighten me, please.

Multi disc games do not work on HDD unless they ask you to save before putting in the second disk. You will need the 2nd disk in and save disk two before you could load the game off hdloader. There are some patches for some multidisk games, some could be merged to 1 image also, second disc save files.
My copy of Xenosaga 2 asks to save before inserting disk, once it saves, you can put in disk 2 and it loads the save from there.

Thanks for that - I was wondering that. I am happy so now I can go on and try it out.

Actually, test it on OpenPS2 loader because Xenosaga 2 has problems with HDloader (according to reports) so off to see how things are in OpenPS2loader

Thanks for that reply because it would be frustrating to play half of game only to find out I cannot play second half at all.

Yeah, I'm not sure about Xenosaga 3 though.

If all else fails you could just use the ESR Patch and patch your games.

I [THINK] that would be the same as loading them off the HDD, as when u swap disk it would not work unless you load ESR first... unless it tells you to save before switching disk... Also we do not know if OP's drive still work.I think there is a network loading for the ps2, not sure how it deals with multi-disk also.

Sorry for reviving this thread :v but i've just finished Xenosaga episode 1 from HDLoader and now i was transferring Episode 2, turns out i cant transfer the Disc2 because for some reason i get an error not letting me transfer the disc >:(

Did anyone here ever figure this out? I'd like to play Xenosaga 2 but not sure if i use OPL or HDLoader or if i even can transfer the 2 ISOS to the hard drive!

Well, Episode 1 was made for the HDD. I don't know if the Japanese version's support remains in the game hidden away somewhere.

I can't seem to have both discs for HD Loader so i am using OPL Daily betas right now! thanks tho!

My guess is that HD Loader uses the game title as the partition name (games are installed into parent and children partitions). So multi-disc games would have a name conflict because disc 2 would be detected as already installed (in the form of disc 1). HDLBATCH does not have this problem because it uses each disc’s GAMEID as part of the partition name. However HDLBATCH requires that you format with uLaunchELF’s Hddmanager. Use OPL Loader to load your games. If using VMCs make sure the second disc uses the same VMC file as the first disc.

Regardless, you should get rid of HD Loader as it is far outdated.

Well, if it worked, then you wouldn't be here reviving and old thread and asking questions about multi-disc games, right? :-) Change is tough, but sometimes change can be good. There are features like being able to play with DualShock 3 and DualShock 4 controllers, saving your games onto a virtual memory card (i.e. onto the HDD itself), artwork, higher compatibility, etc. I'm sure people get by just fine with their ordinary cars. But if you had the chance to upgrade to a luxury car for absolutely free, I'm surprised you'd want to stick with your older car.

It was just the naming lol i had to rename it to something else and works :P

Edit: But yes, im also using the latest daily version of OPL.
