I’m having issues with GC injects getting stuck after the wii logo, it will happen sometimes and other times the games will work fine, I’m using an insignia desktop external hard drive enclosure that has power and a usb 3.0 single port, any ideas on how to fix this it’s driving me insane

Welcome to the team - what you described sounds exactly like my problem.
I haven't really been able to figure out a definitive solution, but you can skim through it to see if its the same...

I am still looking for a fix.
What you could do here is provide a Nintendont log of what is happening when blackscreening and a screen of your SD-Card root & Nintendont-Folder.

I've got the same problem, I've been trying to solve it for the last couple of days with no luck. For me I'd estimate it's around 95% of the time in just gets the black screen. For now I've just given up on it and load into Nintendont itself and play the game from there, storing them on the SD card. Not ideal but at least it's reliable. The main downsides are not being able to store games on the USB HDD and using the Wii U gamepad. Luckily I have a wavebird.

Yeah I looked through your post, it’s strange sometimes the game will launch fine and others it will just get stuck at a black screen after the wii and GameCube boot logo, it’s really frustrating because I was having so many issues with my dual hard drive setup and I thought injections to one HD would be better. There has got to be some way to fix this or atleast figure out what is causing it

Yeah, I was also hoping for the injection-method to be the better option. Especially as most people seem to have no problems at all.
Now I get even madder about this :D There should be a rational explanation, something all of us who have this problem have in common, which those with their sacred, working U's don't have to suffer from.

Well, I just list my setup, maybe someone sees something that could cause it or something "special" he has in common:
  • Black Wii U (32GB)
  • Console connected via HDMI cable to a HDMI switch to the TV
  • USB HDD 500GB, Y cable
  • 64GB SDHC Card
  • FW: 5.5.2
  • CFW: HaxChi (CBHC)
  • vWii modded
  • GC works with Nintendont in vWii mode, flawless
  • Inject to USB or NAND makes no difference
  • Using TeconMoon's Injector 3.0.1
  • Wii Games never had this happen, also injected to USB & built with TeconMoon's
  • Latest Nintendont, updated via the Nintendont app in vWii mode
  • Nintendont settings: everything off or Auto, except MemCardEmu & Wii U widescreen

It's hard to know when to stop when you have no idea what's the cause of the problem :D

  • Black Wii U (32GB)
  • Console connected via HDMI cable to a HDMI switch to the TV, also tried with HDMI unplugged using pad only
  • USB HDD Toshiba 1TB, Y cable
  • 64GB Micro SDXC Card in SD adapter (Also tried 128GB Micro SDXC, 4GB SDHC and 32GB Micro SDHC with no difference)
  • FW: 5.5.2 E
  • CFW: HaxChi
  • vWii modded
  • GC works with Nintendont in vWii mode, flawless
  • Inject to USB or NAND makes no difference
  • Using TeconMoon's Injector 3.0.1
  • Wii Games never had this happen, also injected to USB & built with TeconMoon's
  • Latest Nintendont, updated via the Nintendont app in vWii mode
  • Nintendont settings: Tried just about every combination

Well, i can't find anything - the amount of threads I've read and still no solution.
Only thing I got is that I am (we are) not completely alone, yet for the mayority the injects seem to work fine.

The worst thing is that it works rather often in my case, and I actually like the idea of playing the games on the gamepad - having something you want right in front of you but you can't get it. This is purgatory :D

Maybe it's region-specific, maybe it's rom-specific, maybe it's sth with the Injector Script...
I don't know what I could/should test next. I ran out of plausible ideas <.<

Yeah I'm about ready to give up on it. As nice as using the pad would be its not worth this amount of trouble.

Found sth. in the TeconMoon's thread by the creator of the Script himself, posted not too long ago - in case you haven't stumbled over that yet. So I guess the problem lies in the script then...

Hi all, very surprised to see people are still using this horrible tool after all this time. If it hasn't been painfully obvious, I essentially abandoned this project for some time. All the attempted work I put into this was just because there wasn't an existing tool for Wii / GC injects, and I'm very surprised no one has come along and written a better tool. Probably because interest in the Wii U has been so low no one has really cared to.

To clarify a few things:
  1. I will be posting the terrible source code in the OP soon, maybe someone will be motivated enough to run with it
  2. I am not a programmer by any stretch, kinda the main reason this program sucks so much
  3. There have been a plethora of GameCube issues with blackscreen crashing, maybe @FIX94 and I can work on that (Edit: Yo also maybe @ploggy can weigh in). For titles that generate successfully, the nintendont forwarder always loads, but the forwarder very often fails to load nintendont and leaves no logs behind. For example if you leave the SD card out of the system or don't have a config file, you'll see the error messages stating as such every single time, but once you put the SD card in the system it will often fail to load nintendont.
The only reason I'm revisiting this at all is because I got a new Wii U and was re-generating all my titles, all my Wii titles generated without issue but had a hard time loading GameCube titles.

Anyways, have fun continuing to discuss whatever it is you're discussing.

Yeah it just doesn't make sense if it works half of the time, the only thing I can think of is the External drive turning off while booting to vwii mode and it loses the connection

Looks like it. I wonder if the results are more based on peoples PC's than the Wii U if its making the inject thats the issue rather than running it.

I wonder if there are any alternatives anywhere? I doubt it as this is the only one that seems to come up in every topic.

if its pc issue i can send you some off my projects so you can try, mine work flawlessly.

Out of curiosity I've just tried creating the incject on a different system (different OS, beefier specs).

No difference in behaviour.

@pedro702 could you let us know what your SD root looks like and describe your (working) setup a little?
I still don't want to give up, and since you seem to be EU (according to your profiles flag), this shouldn't be region specific or anything..

my root on sd card only has ninconfig.bin, apps folder, you can get my filses on nintendont root on the linki sent you btw.
nintendont version is probably outdated on the link but not by much imo.

my injects all work perfectly for me remenber when using the gc bios you got a small chance of getting blackscreen with sound sometimes.

  • Black Wii U (32GB)
  • Console connected via HDMI cable to a HDMI switch to the TV
  • nothing usb connected i got my injects on nand
  • 32GB SDHC Card
  • FW: 5.5.2
  • CFW: HaxChi (CBHC)
  • vWii modded
  • GC works with Nintendont in vWii and wiiu mode, flawless
  • Injected to nand
  • Using old version of the Injector i even did my injects by hand before the injets
  • Wii Games never had this happen, also injected
  • Latest Nintendont, updated via the Nintendont app in vWii mode
  • Nintendont settings: MemCardEmu, WiiU Widescreen.

@Slasher115 Yeah, tried 'em, don't think its about the injects themselves being faulty.

Gratz to you for getting it to work. Kinda hate you and envy you now and stuff... :D jk.
I gave up on it today, will try it again maybe someday in the future.

I got my gamepad support working thru the workaround with the WiiVC-inject of USBLoader GX - launching gc from within there. Also probably an advantage because I can set individual Nintendont settings for each game that way.

But still - the unkown reason behind this strange error will probably haunt my dreams for months to come. :wtf:
