Has there been a valid attempt at getting ps2 games on the Vita?

Excuse me if I say anything wrong, I am a bit uninformed,

I am thinking about getting a Vita, since I love my second-hand PSP, but I expect a lot for it, since they still go for around 170 in The Netherlands.
Since the PSP can run PSx games, I figured a more powerful console could theoratically handle PS2 ports.

Comments and inquiries are much appreciated.

    Vita isn't that powerful.

    Only ports, no direct emulation

    How do most ports perform?

The ports are fine but, they were made by official game studios, not homebrew devs.

    I forgot
You will never see any homebrew PS2 games running on the Vita period.

You can always run the emulator on your PC and use Moonlight to stream it to your Vita, it's probably the closest you will get to having a PS2 on the Vita outside of direct ports.
