You need to call Nintendo to unlink the NNID from your old 3DS, but this is going to be much harder. I tried doing this today and they brought up my ban, so I think they're on the look out for people making excuses .

I can't even do a system transfer?!

That sucks but I expected that. Luckily I buy all my stuff physical so the only thing I lost was some VC games and bank.

Did they not allow for it to be unlinked then?

Yes, that's pretty much what I implied. I got told "We're not allowing unlinking/system transfers on banned consoles at this time."

Yea I got told something like that, a bit sassier and with a bit of a sting though :(

If the ban shall be lifted, at least the 022-0102, it's countdown, 15 day I hope, it starts the day the ban wave started by Ñitendo or the day one actually received the ban error code?

I'm not in a hurry to delete my NNID yet, I'm hearing rumors of methods that will yet you system transfer again, so I'm holding out on those.

You already can System transfer, use the Luma patch. It won't help though, the target system receives the movable.sed but keeps it's LFCS. No new movable.sed or LFCS are generated.

Derp - You probably need to remove your NNID to use ST with the Luma patch as that's what I did, misread the NNID bit, if you want to keep that waiting is your only option at this point.

LFCS? I already changed my friend seed to get through the online ban so I should be good?

LocalFriendCodeSeed_B - sick of typing it. :P

I transferred 2 banned systems using the Luma patch - but I had already removed the NNID's. So if you can get into system transfer and it doesn't error you out it could work.

But you still couldn't link a NNID right? I mean I know you can a new one but I mean the one that was banned.

Couldn't tell you, didn't bother trying I can't even access browser Miiverse on my NNID's without an error. If your NNID is banned it's safe to say no amount of system transferring is going to magically allow you to use it again unless it does turn out to be a temp ban.

Oh dear god it worked, it worked!

Acraeus, I could pay you a beer right now.

I just unbanned myself from 002 using nothing but my own 3DS! This is incredible. And I suck at writing tutorials of any kind, so please don't count on me when it comes to that!
But basically

1. Inject an old NAND backup from when you were still installing a9lh (I did one before)
2. Use Decrypt9 to extract movable.sed from it

3. Use Decrypt 9 to extract movable.sed and LocalFriendCodeSeed_B from your current NAND that is banned
4. Use HxD (hex editor) to compare your old movable.sed with your LocalFriendCodeSeed_B, see how offsets 00000000/08 through 00000110/07 is the SAME!
5. Open up your NEW movable.sed with HxD and copy offsets 00000000/08 through 00000110/07
6. Open up LocalFriendCodeSeed_B with HxD and CTRL+A and then paste what you just copied
7. Save, inject to sysnand

This is how I did it, don't blame me if something goes wrong because I'm even worse at giving instructions than following them.

EDIT: Ignore strikethrough text, that is no needed and was just a part of me finding out HOW to do it, you don't need to do that.

How exactly is everyone using decrypt9? im on 11.2, a9lh and luma, and every time i try to run decrypt9 it just crashes. is it only for older firmwares?

Are you running it from homebrew or running it on boot? You have to have it in your /luma/payloads folder.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

It does that when I edit a post.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
