I wondered if you're saying "dumb" to yourself.

Have you tried one from here?

https://archive.org/download/MAME2003_Reference_Set_MAME0.78_ROMs_CHDs_Samples/roms/

I've downloaded both mame2000 and mame2003 roms here with success.

Here is the main page:

https://archive.org/details/MAME2003_Reference_Set_MAME0.78_ROMs_CHDs_Samples
It IS from this site.
Besides that, all CRC32s are completely the same as every dino.zip I got from everywhere.
I also tried mame2000 and bad news again.
So it's weird that it can't be played on both my NES mini and Famicom mini.

I am having trouble running Super Mario World for the NES, not for the SNES. All i am getting is a mapper 48 warning in Hakchi2 and a grey screen when i run it.

Super Mario World for NES works fine. You have to edit the command line in Hakchi:

/bin/nes /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/gamefolder/Super_Mario_World.bin

This is using the nestopia core.

Yea it is weird..I have it running on mame2000 no problem.

My g/f and I played it when she got home from work..we beat the game..still works flawlessly with the mame2000 core.

Do you have the latest cores installed ?

Bummer, romhacking.net has been permanently taken down this week. That was a great place for mods.

I would not trust it being actually taken down. I think it might be outages. The twitter account that posted all this stating that they were taken down by Nintendo, seems to be a fake twitter account. They have IRC channels and such and I think it is fake. So it may be back up eventually or they were hit with a DoS attack. I would keep your hopes up.

Oh good, I hope so. I noticed it was down a couple days, and saw that Twitter page. It makes no sense for rom modding sites to be taken down, but not rom hosting sites.

I need somebody with 3rd party classic controller which is NOT working with NES Classic Mini, to test my patched clovercon driver. We trying to understand why some controllers are not working.

Pretty excited, thanks for your awesome work.

Btw, is there a way to create or configure key mapping only in mame200x ? I'm getting weird key mapping on my wii classic controllers that is not matched that I used to eg. arcades and neogeo console. I have to re-map keys if I'm playing neogeo then re-map again when playing nes/snes. -- not a big deal anyway :)

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
    +1
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
