Interesting idea, but due to the lack of homebrew and lack of support by the author, I will sit this one out.

To each his own and whatnot but I just don't understand a couple of these homebrew developers. This guy is one, not wanting anyone distributing his software, once compiled. Why? The DSOrganize guy is another, he'll get mad if someone suggests new features (e.g. video playback) on his forum. I get the idea he killed the real developer and only has basic knowledge - hence why we haven't had an update in so long. Seriously though, how can you be a good coder yet hate your target audience? To me that, a good coder, does not make, but rather quite the opposite.

Ok, one line caught my eyes and I just have to ask to make sure,

- It plays .gba games automatically, no more need to load a gba exploader or 3 in 1 loader before loading any .gba game. Also it saves .gba games with no hassle, by creating a .sav like the .nds games.

So basically thats saying it can play .gba games within a slot-1 cart? Because quite frankly if it just loads the slot-2 cart then I don't see the need to mention it specifically, since the R4 firmware 1.18 can do so just fine. Of course, if it can load .gba games within the slot-1 cart then okay where do I sign up lol.

Throughout the years though, I've not seen such a thing....

It uses the slot-2 cart to load the games. No loader can run GBA games using slot-1 only. Using YSMenu means the GBA games show up in the file list just like a DS game, no need for ExpLoader like there is using the standard 1.18 R4 loader.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. I knew it was too bad to be false. Er, too good to be true

Can anyone help me? I followed all the steps, but I get this when I start it up.

Error: can't fatInitDefault

Thanks, apparently I skipped the DLDI patching step.

I don't have a GBA Expansion, but when I do I will probably start using this alot. Also if games stop working on my R4.

I don't think I did this right. Nothing boots and has an "Unsupported DLDI Name" error.

EDIT: Before anyone says, I DLDI patched YSMenu.nds.

I get the same error. i patched it asell and them got the stuff i needed from it and deleted it. can someone help? seems im either doing it wrong or the instructions are wrong. tried it 6 times time exatcly as they were. still no go.

EDIT***** i found out i was using the wrong ysmenu. you want YSMenu0805222222. i was using YSMenu0804200115
thats why i wasn't able to figure this crap out.
anyways thanks revnull i wouldn't have known ****

well I guess since the R4 dldi patch has been released this will be the future for R4, if no other R4 releases come out. Which looks like it won't with all these law suits.

All I need right now is the reset feature.

As soon as that works, I'll start using ysmenu as the default kernel.

Thanks for the guide. It is sooooo much better than the R4 kernel. The cheat engine is much faster (R4 lags when too much cheats are loaded) and it doesn't have disappearing cheats bug either. I highly recommend it.

BTW did anybody test the wii connectivity with YSMENU? Does Pokemon Battle Revolution or pokemon ranch work on YSMENU? Thanks!

I was about to ask the EXACT same thing.

Technically, ysmenu uses the DSTT firmware so if DSTT supports Wii connectivity then it should work.

Someone tested it?

Can the YsMenu load commercial backups like the original R4 firmware? And could the same process be applied to the M3Sakura menu to make it able to boot commercial backups from the R4?

1) Yes.
2) No.

can someone please get a screenshot of the web page and show me the link because the webpage is so messy? thanks!

Go on the webpage, then search for this line.

2008/05/22 22:22:微修正(DSLinker,SAV拡張子)

That is the download link.

P.S. If for some reason you can't see the Japanese characters, just searching for the date will get you to the download link

It doesn't work for me I have done almost everthing written here

Can anyone tell me plz step by step what to do? How do I use the new ttexcract.exe etc.? I want to use that one which also works with homebrew and so on ...^^

To be honest, I don't think it could be any simpler that what it says in the opening.
