All Vitas sans 2 Japanese slim colors are guaranteed to have 3.60 or lower firmware on them, PSTV included.

And yes, you can use the Henkaku DNS server to update directly to 3.60 on your Vita.

Both questions, which I might add, were answered in the OP itself ;)

Having read this a few days ago I felt safe ordering a new glacier white slim from amazon. It arrived today and unfortunately it is on 3.61. I'm guessing new stock that is on 3.61 must be filtering into the supply.

Getting a Vita on 3.60 or below has been pretty frustrating so far. I've already returned 2 used Vitae from Ebay due to rainbow scratches when the sellers described the items as having no scratches on the screen.

I am considering keeping the glacier white slim (it's lovely) but I can't find any 3.60 or under slim replacement motherboards on ebay. Does anyone know where I can find one at a decent price?

Or better yet, does anyone know what shops still have brand new vitas on 3.60 or below?

edit: Ordered another brand new Glacier white slim from another seller on amazon and it also had 3.61.

I asked almost every seller on ebay selling brand new Glacier White and Blue Vitas what FW they were on. Got 4 replies back saying that the latest batches they've received are on 3.61.

Looks like the party is over. If you want a brand new Slim Japanese Vita on 3.60 or below you better make sure that it's older stock.

Hello, It's me again I... I still haven't given up!
I found this:
Hack Your Vita 3.63 Now

It has got page on github and looks like real hack...
If it's only waste of time I'll be waiting even to last vita update to new jailbreak.

As always sorry for my bad english ;)

It's not really a hack on the same level as Henkaku, it's just psvimagetools which Yifan released last month. Basically all it lets people do is edit the app.db and the registry. It doesn't allow unsigned code execution like Henkaku does.

Can you explain what can I do with it? I'm new at consoles hacking... But I rooted my two Android devices (1 with Custom ROM) and really enjoy that features.

Right now, it'll let you install ARK (which is a PSP mode eCFW, which lets you boot PSP homebrew/ISOs only), allows the PSTV to run any game, and small stuff like letting you swap the X/O buttons.

You won't be able to run any native Vita homebrew or backups.

Hey, so today I installed Adrenaline (ePSP) -and vitashell 1.61- and it works fine. However, and I am not sure if this could be the reason for the following not working but one game (Velocity 2X) gives me the error c2-12828 after opening it. It installs fine, though. I try installing Velocity Ultra and just as it is about to reach 100% installation through Vitashell 1.61 it gives me an error 0x8... something like that. I have tried different .vpk files (as the latter error I got it before in another game and I solved it by sending the file to the vita again and installing) but nothing seems to work.

Is there any solution to my issue? Could it be Vitashell 1.61 not working well, or Adrenaline screwing up somehow?

Have you tried getting a Mai dump and installing with MaiDumpTool instead? My understanding is that Mai produces more reliable dumps than Vitamin.

Nope, haven't tried Mai yet. Would have to read about how it is used and how to install games and everything.
You can install MaiDumps via vitashell too, just use the "Install Folder" option and it will do it for you. It's worked for me on all maidumps even though i have them both installed. I just like VitaShell's look better.

OMG, thanks, this is great. It worked flawlessly! Significantly faster than .vpk

Ok, I will try that another time. I tried to install a patch with titleid_patch but it broke the game as it showed error c2-18... How do I install those?
You have to activate mode 5 boot mode for the game in MaiDumpTools. The strange thing is it takes way longer to activate mode 5 than it does to install the game and DLC.

Oh, so I have to install that. I thought I could use vitashell as I did to install the game.

they need to have a strong line up on the launch titles too. I think they should move metroid prime 4 to the next console because by now it has been quite a while and there's no release date scheduled yet

  • realtimesave @ realtimesave:
well as far as metroid prime 4 is concerned, the next system probably is similar enough to the current gen they can probably easily just slap it onto a next gen cart and call it good :P
