Ok, got it.....I think. I’ve read much lately about hacking my 360. It’s a xenon with a hitachi47 drive. It did suffer from the rrod long ago (12 yearsish), and it’s been running fine ever since. Been playing GTA V.

I’m looking to get an x360usbpro v2 and xk3y reloaded. I figure with these, if my 360 gives up on life, I can use these same tools again on a slim (with the help of a probe as well...maybe).

Am I heading in the right direction?
This Xbox scene is intense.

iirc, my first system was a xenon with a hitachi 78fk drive. it failed three separate times. do yourself a favor and stick a bottle rocket in the disc drive and let it blow that bloody thing to hell. ...then, buy a new system falcon or above preferably a jasper or a slim.

Slims don't need probes to have their drives dumped.
Neither do Hitachi Phatty drives.

But yeh, if your Xenon dies, just yank out the Xkey, dump the Slim's DVD FW and build it into that console.

Edit: pre-RGH'd slims are good.
No XBL access tho unless you fork out on stealth servers.

Just found out that I can use a usb to sata adapter for my hitachi version (47). I’m taking the plunge into xbox360 modding. Going to see if I can dump my dvd firmware, then if all goes well, I’ll order that xk3y. Yeeeee!

To answer your questions:

The DVD is already flashed, I believe with iXtreme LT+ 3.0 but I do not have any keys. I know however that burnt games work on it.
The dash is: 2.0.17526.0 (I have not powered it on for a while as I have another X360 that I use)

I would definitely like to do an RGH for two reasons:

1. I do not ever play online, I do get achievements but that is all, I am not too worried about those. The 360 live service is almost dead or will die soon.
2. XKey is expensive and not readily available in the UK.

Ideally, an RGH2 (or SRGH? I am confused with these two) + dual NAND solution would be perfect, but first I need to know how to do it and what I need to get started.
I feel you there. But it has to come down in price. It is a whole lot easier to mod if you don't have soldering skills. My brother ruined a few boards before he got his right. I think you need a really good soldering iron. I have a few here I would like to mod but I think, if the price is right, I will pay someone to do it for me. My brother got his done for 30USD.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

It isn't that hard. If you lived close I would do it for you. Or at least walk you through it. Anyone in Chicagoland?

Whether its jtag, RGH, SRGH, RGH 1, RGH 2, or RGH 1.2, the ultimate goal is the same. Run programs not authorized by Microsoft and modify the hypervisor. The differences are in what it’s designed for, how that is achieved, and also average boot up time.

Jtag - Phats only, instant boot works on Xenon/Zephyr, old hack, won’t work on 99% of consoles due to updates.

RGH1 - Phats only, almost instant boot doesn’t work on most consoles now, it’s old. Low Xenon/Zephyr success rate

RGH 1.2 - Phats only, almost instant boot, works on consoles 1 doesn’t work on. Low Xenon/Zephyr success rate

RGH2 - All consoles, results vary heavily, boot times can be from instant to minutes, low Xenon/Zephyr success rate.

SRGH - Slims, almost instant boot, newer modified RGH2 with high success rate.

Keep in mind that any console made 8/14 or later will definitely have a Winchester motherboard and is not hackable.

1 year ago I tried flashing my 360 dvd drive and I got the dvd keys but I broke the pcb. I now have a LTU2 pcb and I want to flash my keys. Will it detect it just by plugging it into a sata port in my pc? Do I have to connect all the cables and wires to flash the keys?

I also remember I had to connect my drive to a usb sata adapter to put it into some sort of recovery of mode, will that be necessary?

You'll need a compatible SATA chipset and a way to power the drive with either a connectivity kit or the 360 itself.

Flashing wise, it'll be the same as you'd normally do it.
I just tried with my 360 powering the pcb and my usb sata adapter and it doesn't detect it. I disabled driver signture enforcement and if I click on anything on the program it just gives out an error message. I think i'll try with a windows 7 PC as windows 10 appears not to work well with this

You can send the drive PCB to me along with the drive dump.
I could flash the keys to it and send it back if you want to.

Otherwise you'll have to get a dedicated SATA card or a X360 USB pro.
Oh thank you, that can be an option if I don't get it working. However I remember I was able to connect my drive and get it recognised somehow, and I didn't need extra tools.

I think I know what my problem is: the bios detects the drive fine, but inside of windows there is nothing. I saw that you have to put the sata mode to ide, but my motherboard is too new for that. Ill try an older motherboard

That’s what I thought too; but I have windows 10 64bit. Works perfectly fine. I just need to reboot to disable signature enforcement.
*with x360 usb pro though.

I forgot one thing; did you drop a patch in the program? That is what I did and it worked. I was frustrated, like you I wanted to install windows 7. I have been taking so many classes that my brain is fried but I got all of the programs that wouldn’t open to work. There is a patch. Google it (don’t think links are allowed here).
