My 360 has a Falcon motherboard and a BenQ drive. Can I just hook it up to the SATA ports on my desktop's mobo (Intel chipset) and flash it that way? Or do I need some special cable?

You'll need to check if your SATA chipset is compatible, if it isn't you'll need an X360 USB Pro.
If it did turn out to be incompatible, could I use an ordinary SATA to USB link? I do have one of those with a power supply and everything.

If I buy a Xbox 360 at Best Buy ... will the CR4 method work ?
or maybe not ?

EDIT: I guess all the ones in the stores are SLIM models .. so RGH is the only option ?

Looks like it is better to get an old model.

I would need to know what dashboard they are on ... and if it is Dashboard 7371 and lower, I can JTAG it ?

Hmmm ... JTAGging looks like work
Code:

.... might need to find a local JTAGGER :)

Don't set your hopes up on a JTAG.
Those things are becoming rarer with the day.

Not to mention this might also be a Zephyr console, meaning you're pretty much fucked on RGH.

First, send the seller a message and ask from what year the console is.

Maybe I should just buy one already JTAGGED ?

This guy said, "The black elite is stock with no hdd. Add your own or use a USB drive."

Looks like it would be easy to just buy this one and add a USB drive myself.

Is the biggest Hard Drive or USB Hard Drive allowed 500 Gigs ?

My xbox have the LT 3.0, can i format my xbox without losing the "jailbreak/flash"?
Sorry for the english and im pretty noob about xbox "jailbreaking"

Please don't use "jailbreak"
The thing never was in a "jail"

Nope, if you format the HDD, you'll only lose your saved games/profiles and any other things you didn't copy to the cloud/USB drives.
Thanks for the help! :D
And sorry for the "jailbreak" therm, i didnt knew the correct therm

It just sounds so... noobish n Apple-y n what not.

No prob~
Personally, I keep a MU (memory unit) in me 360 for backing up save games and me profile (non-hacked 360)
As for the hacked 360, I usually just copy the entire harddisk to a backup harddisk.
That way, in a crash, I keep all me games and settings and saves n what not.

You could also just insert a USB drive and store saved games there.

So, hold on. I do have a 360 slim. I'm new with the Xbox hacking thing. I have a backup of one of my old xbox ( original. ) games I'd like to play off my HDD. However, I can't understand this tutorial. I'm so lost.

Before I ask the question I have, I'd like to apologize for being a complete noob - the only systems I've ever hacked have been DS, Wii, and 3DS. And most of those are rather simple to do (as they are mostly firmware-based hacks) and I couldn't wrap my head around this tutorial.

I have a black 360 slim I got a few months ago as a refurbished console from Gamestop. Because of my previous experiences with the Xbox 360 (3 RRoDs in a row back before Gamestop warranties didn't cover RRoD), I'd like to keep my warranty valid (I know I'm being paranoid but the last thing I want/need is a fourth dead 360). All I know about my system is that the manufacturing year is 2011 and it has the Lite-on optical disc drive. The system is updated to the most recent version mostly because it didn't give me a choice in the matter.

So my question is whether I can hack my 360 without physically opening up the system. Thank you for your time.

Warranty is over anyway.
Unless gamestop gives a warranty.

You could use a hairdryer to heat the warranty seal and slowly take it off and flash it (flashing the DVD drive to allow for backups) or install an Xkey (play backups from external sources).
That kinda keeps the warranty intact.
If you where to RGH it (emulators n what not), you'll need to solder and you'll lose XBL access.

I came across a 360 with Xenon mobo, no HDMI, on 17489 dash, Lite-On Drive. Any hope for modding it?
